Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever? Doug Lee, biggest toolbox ever?

In my experiences and my roommates' experiences with Doug, he has been real scum. Honestly, he tried to angle two of my friends in one week in the Five Star series in April of 2007. Also, he has absolutely no fold button so never, ever try to bluff him.

Shannon, you're too good of a guy to tease us like this. Excruciating details, please.

Sorry Howard. I shouldn't have even made the post without the details. I'll speak with my roommates when they awake and follow with a post because the exact details of the angles escape me.

I am sure that cleverness can make up for historical accuracy. In fact, I can't think of much that would be funnier than false factual accounts of Doug Lee angle shooting -- I can just imagine Doug having to defend himself over stuff he didn't actually do but would have if he'd thought about it.

BTW, his "OK then, let's go" pretend call isn't even original. It's a page from Slim's hustle book.

Look at his photo albums he wears his FTP T-Shirts in the most inappropriate public settings. I guess it's a great conversation starter.

Good times...
that's pretty funny...the picture of him is in a section where BG basically says that tourney players are donks.

[ ] details quite amusing
[x] still waiting on details

Also, Mr. Kim doesn't get to go on life tilt, ever IMO. He final tabled the main event. More significantly, he also attended Duke.

About two years ago, I was playing 10-20 NL at the Bellagio. As soon as I sat down, I noticed Doug Lee sitting in seat 1 since he was such a TV celebrity. It was a must-move game and soon it went from being short-handed to heads-up between Doug and I.

The first hand heads up he makes a standard raise on the button and I call with 9-8. The flop comes 10-9-7. I lead out and Doug quickly moves all-in. Doug only had around $1500-$1700 to begin the hand and I had him covered. I make the call and he turns over K-10 and his top pair holds and doubles up.

Then he goes, "I don't wanna play heads-up."

I ask, "You don't even wanna play... maybe one more hand??"

"No."

I tried hard to convince him to play but he didn't budge. Since then I've known what a class act he is, but I didn't expect that I would get to tell this story in a classic 2+2 thread such as this one.

Wow. This guy is too good to be true.

Maybe Doug Lee is someone's real life gimmick account?

Check out the last video on this page: http://www.dougleepoker.com/Videos.htm . It's Doug standing behind Esfandiari while Antonio makes a video and Doug gets ignored til Doug awkwardly walks away eventually.

I am Shannons roomate with the story about Doug. Its not an amazing story or anything but...

This all happened in April of 07. Basically I was in a 500 SNG with Doug and we ended up playing heads up for the 5K seat. While we were heads up I was about to bluff a river and was reaching for a stack when Doug shoves all in out of turn. I hadn't cut the chips yet and since I didn't have anything I min-bet and folded. He went on to win the seat and I didn't think much of it.

The next day my other roomate Mike Katz was playing in a tournament with Doug and he admitted that he purposely shoved out of turn the day before (blatantly angleshooting) and then went on to pull a similar move against Katz.

Katz isn't the type to take this laying down so he stands up and causes a huge scene in the middle of the Fontana Lounge at Bellagio. He starts screaming that he is gonna kick the **** out of Doug and dares him to step outside. Eventually he was being so ridiculous that they slapped a 20 minute penalty on him and he had to leave the tournament area.

I was back home at the time and I get a phone call from him. I had a piece of him and I knew when break was, so when I saw the caller ID I assumed he busted. The call went something like this:

Jerry(ME): ****. How did you bust?
Katz: Bust? I didn't bust, I got a penalty.

Jerry:...
Katz: Yea I jumped out of my chair and threatened to beat the **** out of Doug Lee in front of everyone in the Fontana Lounge.

Jerry: So your still in?
Katz: Yea, I just have to sit out for 20 minutes.

Jerry: atta boy

I wrote a blog entry about it last year:

haha, i love the phrasing here:

"In the more advanced course we will teach you how to play bigger tournaments and be able to compete and have a strategy to be able to beat the pros. Doug Lee recent success in being able to beat World Class players such as Phil Ivey, Jennifer Harman, Ted Forest, Dan Negraneau and Johnny Chan has led him to 3 TV final tables in 2005."

i outlasted phil ivey in a tournament! i beat phil ivey! i'm better!!

Someone must have told Doug about his "very own 2+2 thread". You just know he checked it out, dying to see what a great player everyone thinks he is, only to be crushed by the result. I love that now when you go to Doug's website through Google, everything is pulled except for a message saying: Updated Site Coming Soon! Classic angle shooting by Doug "The Toolbox" Lee!
