Hope the DOJ charges these scumbag bankers! Might be a show trial though with a "not guilty" verdict at the end.

Makes sense, the corruption runs right through D.C, all the way to the White House.

Intresting info man. I didnt read anything else but your first posts but however, they are def targeting sites like SPORTSBOOK.COM lol that are just opening there doors for idk what reason.

But how can DOJ be targeting merge skins when their doors are not even open to US players yet. And i think thats exactly what Merge Network are waiting for, is to be completely sure and safe before opening the doors so when they do so nothing like ftp/stars ever happens.

I personally think the fact there waiting is a good thing because they assured for a fact it will happen there just getting stuff together. Its just unfortanute the info got leaked too early.

There are currently players from the US playing on Merge. DOJ knocks on their door and asks them to show them deposit/ payout methods. US players are cooperative informants. That is how they can build a case while Merge accept NEW US players. Find an existing player and get him to cooperate with your investigation

edited to add: Another thing that I know he is full of it (if he even exists) is the "we are close to regulation."

People in the FBI, DOJ, or any other law enforcement agency know next to nothing more then the average man when it comes to new laws that are being enacted. Having a college friend that is now an FBI agent, and having a family friend that has been a senator for a while now....predicting legislation is a LOT harder then you might think. Especially when it comes to controversial topics like gambling, and having the house/senate split in majority.
I dont think he gave a prediction. He said what everyone else has been saying...soon (close to regulation same ****). I think that is the consensus because reid said it would be soon. I think the guy is telling the truth about what he knows but he might be lying about how he got the info

Ok. Thanks, I guess.

I think its safe or at least prudent to assume already that the DoJ is still investigating the remaining US-facing sites like Merge. Aside from that, even if everything OP says is true, its nothing new. Also, there is no reason to believe that this brother-in-law of his would know anything more about the likelihood of legislation getting passed or when than most random people. Its not as if he's going to be voting on it.

The whole idea of attacking these small sites now is insane and probably -EV for the companies that will offer legal poker in the future. How naive do they have to be to say, "let's **** over our future customers yet again"
this is true, if they're that naive then I lose all faith in the intelligence of the people in charge.

Ahhhh, how about a DOJ investigator simply opens an account, makes a fat deposit or two by different methods, plays and makes withdrawals using all the methods available. No need to knock on anyone's door, but that would make a better scene in a movie.

Does the DOJ really need to push out the current sites before legalization? Merge could hardly handle the influx of new players after Black Friday, do they really think Merge could handle full legalization? I guess the only thing Merge would have going for it is the brand name (which was hardly recognizable before BF, and i'd bet the general public still has never heard of it), it's not like the new sites would be competing with household names like Stars/Tilt.

Right, because Merge doesn't advertise. But, "The Man" (whomever that might be) wants all offshore avenues shut down before legislation kicks in to maximize profits and tax revenues here. It's a negotiation. If we want licensing and regulation in the USA, we have to agree to give up offshore sites. That sucks for those of us in opt-out states because we'll have nowhere to play, but I do understand the need for this.

Only read the op so I apologize if someone has already asked this but why do they have to push all existing sites out before moving forward on legislation?
Wouldn't the market correct itself if a bunch of legal sites opened? Why would anyone leave their money on Merge or any other "illegal" site if there were safer, more secure and legal places to play?
