It's hard to say where it is headed at this stage. I just wish they'd leave it alone. Many of the European countries are run down ****holes anyway that should count themselves lucky they were accepted into the EU, let alone trying to segregate their own citizens from their fellow European players in something so trivial.
Greece even thinking about online gambling, while they just received a €145bn bailout and their economy is in utter ****, is just outrageous though. There's a time and a place and when your country can't even run itself you shouldn't even be concerned with recreational, legal habits of your citizens. Your only focus should be getting the country back on its feet.
It's a shame but I don't think anything can be done about it right now short of putting pressure on the sites to comply with existing competition laws in the EU, and to block/change any EU level regulation/legislation that the EU might try to pass down (which can be done with 1 million signatures).

Although this time you wrote down your thinking process I will have to almost repeat my reply in the Greece - specific thread. (Some mod could merge the threads possibly?)
How hard is it for you to realize that if so many players are playing online the Goverment is missing several needed millions in taxes thats why they rush the legislation at this time of economic need? Believe it or not Greece is a country with a ridiculous amount of gamblers in the population. Card games and casinos are very very common. Having absolutely 0 taxes on this things when the whole country is struggling economically doesn't sound right does it? Saying Greece, lol and " your ****hole country should stay away from poker and get on her feet first" makes me believe your thinking process isnt working at its best right now. A country in debt needs to utilize all the income possibilities she has and I wonder why taxing a recreational (sic) activity like poker and gambling sounds absurd to you.
Its not a matter of recreational habits as you happily but dead wrong put it. Weird as it may seem I play semi professionally and changes like that hurt me a lot but I still find the change expected.
You probably think we live in caves by now judging from the quality of information you are receiving and misplacing in random threads. We haven't died yet, thanx. You better spend a little time dusting off your history lessons. Oh and america, **** yeah.
