Did and will online poker continue to grow? (2013 - 2017+) Did and will online poker continue to grow? (2013 - 2017+)

I've been in online poker since 2013 and complete noob up to last year, so I didn't really follow how high stake games are running etc.. but I did notice a lot more traffic on various sites with the twitch/youtube channels and facebook advertising.

I'm not sure if my instincts are off on this, but it seems that poker definitely grew over the past 3 years in right direction (if we forget about rake, bots and games getting sovled) and kind of looks like it is just going to have another mini boom probably?

I'd really like to hear more from someone that has looked into this, but if you forget about pokerstars and countries unable to play on certain sites (because of the license/regulation), I think it has still grew quite a lot. Of course if US and EU market would merge again that would be perfect, but let's forget about that.

Nope- number of players seem to have plummeted on most sites in my experience. Look at the dying numbers in mtts on stars.

Nope- Unless poker becomes legal in China/India/Japan - fully legal in US i can't see another boom.

Sites greed (mostly amayastars) + legislation is making online poker go downhill

I'd say live poker has gotten more popular though

Which sites? What are the comparable numbers?

Don't want to tell really, let's just say they are juicy sites and games are juicy. I'm from Europe and Pokerstars and 888 got banned in my country, but I'm still getting a lot of good tables on most sites I play.

Don't know about MTTs a lot, played them a little and they seem to be incredibly soft comapred to cash games, but don't have time for tournies. HU did dry up quite a bit, but you can still make a lot of money if you bumhunt.

Idk, I really feel cash games have gotten substantialy easier up to NL100.

It's funny, pokerstars at 200-400 seems about as soft now as its ever been but poker is still 100% dying on it's ass. Numbers of players have dwindled on all major networks over the past 4 to 5 years, you can't use "softness of games" as an adequate measure for the state of online poker.

It can only continue like this for so long by which i mean rake increases driving mediocre regs out of the game and also having less fish/players in general playing. Personally I think an inflection point is going to be reached sooner or later where inability to attract new rec players and the continued rake hikes absolutely obliterate the games for 90% of regs. I hope to not be around when that happens.

Poker bots
Tough competition
Bad legislation
Bad press
Technical issues
And too many different sites making traffic spread out

I don't see it getting better for a while. I don't know if live poker is growing or not but it seems to be doing fine.

Remove government and imagine online poker in 2017.

Games might be as soft or as hard as ever, but an industry with revenues that have been declining about 10% every year can hardly be said to be booming.

forever if you don't completely suck at the format you are playing and all the poker sites go down.

3k/month isn't really that much if you put in the time, you could grind NL50 8 hours 5 times/week and do it probablly (with nice RB).

I remember when the sunday million was a 500k years ago and its been 2m prizepool last couple of weeks (although half price buyin) but when you consider how the US and a few other countries can't play on there now, mtt looks pretty strong. Don't know about cash though. Imagine the prizepools now if all countries could play, it would probably be the sunday 3 million!
