Darvin Moon is this year's Moneymaker, but even worse skillwise. He's a logger from Maryland who comes across as dumb and totally uninteresting in interviews. He is an even bigger luckbox than Gold or Yang. Him winning the main event would be a disaster for poker.
or it might make all the other idiots in the world toss up 300 $ on poker stars or full tilt and give you guys a new pool of fish to catch!
Back in 2003, we needed someone like Moneymaker to win, so poker could become more mainstream. But things are very different this year. Congress will debate Barney Frank's legislation this September, and one of the crucial issues that will come up is whether poker is just gambling, or an actual game of skill. Mike Sexton testified in South Carolina earlier this year to argue that poker is actually a skill game. From reading all the accounts of people who actually played with him at the WSOP, the consensus is that Darvin Moon is a luckbox on the level of Gold and Yang. One guy even said Moon makes Moneymaker look like Ivey. If he wins, especially if the final table has Ivey, naysayers will insist that poker is mainly luck since after all, the best player did not win.
This is the truth. Every single word of it. Everyone that loves poker should read this post and understand that we "need" Ivey to take this tourney down.
