"Erick Lindgren thought he had 2.8 million at the dinner break. But when he returned from dinner, he had 2.5 million at his seat.

"Either I miscounted by exactly 300k or they misplaced my chips on the move to feature table," tweeted Lindgren. Lindgren also mentioned in the tweet that Lamb thought he was missing chips too.

A WSOP tournament official told Casino City that tournament supervisors had moved the chips to the featured table, and that one player thought he was short chips after the move. The official then said they checked the surveillance video and independent chip counts to ensure no chips had been lost -- and it was likely the player had just miscounted. WSOP officials also said they were unaware of an unclaimed chip sitting on a seat, as was reported by some news outlets.

"Guess I was wrong," Lindgren tweeted. "They say they saw the video. Not sure why they are allowed to move my chips without me there."

Seems insane to me. Do they do this at other large tournaments? Isn't this asking for trouble?

[ ] surveillance wasn't even called because they knew they wouldn't be able to get a 100% accurate count from the video angles.

that problem could've been easily avoided with a simple digital camera.
just unstack it into stacks of 20, take a picture and move the chips afterwards.

this issue is definitely something they should discuss in the players committee (or whatever that is called)

Playing live many times I always thought the poker rooms where careless in dealing with chips. At some Atlantic City poker rooms they color up during breaks when players are away from the table which I always felt was problematic.

Ouch. Coloring up leaves a lot more chance for mistakes than even moving chips and I wouldn't be comfortable with moving chips while I am not there.

Whenever playing and I need to step away (tourney or cash), I cut out my chips so they are identifiable for the cameras in case there are any issues.

Granted with the chip stacks in the ME that might either take awhile or be a bit cumbersome. But if you are that deep in the ME, and you don't want any mistakes to occur, seems like a logical way to protect yourself.

I pretty much do this most of the time using my iPhone. especially at color ups. But most of the time, I am not too far away from the table or my chips, especially during color-up. you'll be surprised how many times they make a mistake.

I have said this before and I am a low limit nobody...if for whatever reason I am away from the table for break or anything..I count my chips and tell the dealer my count...seems nitty...but I at least want to have a verbal record of a count before any color up or miscount..
I can't even imagine how paranoid I would be in a huge tournament like the WSOP.
I think that there should be an accountable system in place...GL E-DOG..baby will need new shoes..lol

lindgren is taking a cheap angle shot at the tourney staff. he didnt like them touching his chips so he makes a spurious claim that he had an extra 300k

yeah, I don't want anyone messing with my chips when I am not there. last live tourney I played, they were going to do a race, I didn't have any extra chips, so I left, came back and my stack was smaller with some big chips beside it. dealer took it upon herself to color me up. don't like that. if she's distracted, she can easily give me a 5k chip for 10k or 7.5k or w/e. I didn't even have a giant stack or anything. she made some comment about 'oh yeah I always will color you up' or something (to someone else, I didn't bother saying anything, can't be undone at that point). irritating in a dinky tourney, would def be pissed at the Main Event.

This is ridiculous - not even worth a detailed response beyond the word "ridiculous."

actually it isnt. if i was in his shoes and i was real upset about someone touching my chips i would make the same claim. it forces them to rethink their policy of touching chips without the player there.

am i right or am i wrong?

Orrrrrrrrr...maybe because he's a pro with allot of followers, he tweeted his chip-stack before dinner break and when he came back he found a descrepancy. Sometimes even poker players tell the truth.
