DN is one of the only live pros I know of that believes that online kids are better than live pros at NLHE and I'm sure it takes a lot for someone w. 12m in earnings to admit that a 21 year old is better than him at a game he's been making a living at for a long time.

DN is also a great ambassador for the game of poker. For all of these reasons DN has my respect.
its nowhere near his best game, and i seriously doubt that hes made more monies at NLHE than other disciplines of poker

Re: Daniel V.s 2 plus 2 : what would he have to do to gain your respect?

I find him to be annoying, but whenever I see him he's in cash games, and well...losing. Maybe if he made a televised final table a semblance of his once exuberant and television friendly personality would come to surface, but tournaments have become tougher and Daniel is growing older and more bitter with more desperately bad jokes and middle school like off color impressions.

Re: Daniel V.s 2 plus 2 : what would he have to do to gain your respect?

you guys who keep saying DN isn't as good at cash games, where do you think daniel built his bankroll? Playing mixed cash games. He is also a regular in the Big Game. He mentioned just today that he was going to play online because bobby's room was empty.

He'd get respected if he lost the condescending demeanor or actually got good enough to at least somewhat warrant it.

Re: Daniel V.s 2 plus 2 : what would he have to do to gain your respect?

he lost my respect when he started bashing other pro's to boost his own little ego. calling Hellmuth bad at cash games is like pot calling kettle black . DN is a tourney player plain and simple , stick to what your strengths are.

I've railed his table ( i was there with a media pass ), for a while and that was kinda pathetic.
During the break, while other players were creating small group of persons chatting, pissing, smoking or whatever, he was clearly embarassed by the fact beeing alone, and was continuosly looking at press guys to have an interview or something.
Sure he has some kind of poker skill, maybe he's outclassed right now, but my feeling was he's some kind of nerd trying to look cool, and not getting it, and worst of all, being almost ignored. Probably some lack of social skill, or the complete absence of it ...
Leos usually take one of two forms:

quiet and unassuming (but outspoken at times): Doyle and his son Todd

always seeking to be the center of attention: Daniel Negreanu

also Cancers like Hellmuth can often fall into the latter category as well

astrology lol

Re: Daniel V.s 2 plus 2 : what would he have to do to gain your respect?

If he stopped with the table talk nonsense.

"I knew you had KK" after calling off 100K with AJ.

"I thought that's what you had. It was either that, or nothing." after donking off another 100K with 88 vs. QQ.

ad infinitum.

I wouldn't say I don't respect his game but I find him quite annoying as a personality.

Re: Daniel V.s 2 plus 2 : what would he have to do to gain your respect?

He must be getting better.... he announced 10 minutes ago that he was going to be playing 100/200 on stars, and so far he's still sitting alone.
