Re: Daniel V.s 2 plus 2 : what would he have to do to gain your respect?

Make no more mention of Rocky movies.

remember that hellmuth used to play like that in his twenties

The apparently "racist" stuff, such "foreign" accents and blacking up, is a concern but I don't think it was his intention to be racist. I know he grew up with a lot of West Indian friends and clearly has a lot of Asian friends in poker.
I agree. You Americans are WAY too PC these days. Don't mistake not being PC for being a racist, it's a totally different kettle of fish.

DN has ridiculous amounts of tournament earnings and has proven to be beyond elite in MTT play, no matter how you slice it. He plays a ton of cash games against literally the best players in the world and doesn't whine after losing a huge pot. He also readily admits that a lot of the people he plays against are more skilled players than he and that he's a student of the game.

He also has tons of respect for a lot of online players especially now that he's joined the community. How can you hate/disrespect the dude?
The only people who can't respect DN for his lifetime achievements are teenagers in their mother's basement. Adults respect success.

Re: Daniel V.s 2 plus 2 : what would he have to do to gain your respect?

Skipping all posts to respond to OP:

He would have to not be a dork that's famous for his TV play more than his poker play.

He would have to not have his agent, and/or a 17 year old kid, and/or his agent or publicist who writes like a 17 year old kid, post stupid threads like this on this board.

Most of all, he needs to drop more C bombs on Bs like Annie Duke and also I would recommend a wig.

exactly, and its the ole tough guy on the internet & then go bragging to their 25 yr old friends mentality that all this hating stems from

that and their unusual love for internet donks, say what you want about Daniel but he's still one of the games greats unlike most superstars that the games passed like Lederer

yeah seriously, i think everyone here sees a few High stakes episodes and assumes that is the everyday norm for Daniel, only twice has he played subpar/bad on High stakes, combined with the fact that Dwan was running hot against him as well

Re: Daniel V.s 2 plus 2 : what would he have to do to gain your respect?

I give Daniel credit for putting his time and money on the line to become a better no limit player. That said, I hope he realizes just how insignificant a 50k hand sample is. What isn't insignificant, though, is how much of an edge he could gain on his previous self through those 50k hands.
