I agree with most of the people saying there are better causes to donate to, but it's a somewhat complicated discussion and at the end of the day it's still nice to see people banding together to improve someone's life when they're in a ****ty situation.

UH, that quote is exactly what several people are saying and have said, i.e. the existence of starving children means that they are more entitled to that charity than someone like the bus monitor. My point is that not only does this make no sense (since by this logic the only charity worthy of existence is the most important one) but it makes the speaker an incredible hypocrite because none of us is doing all we can for important charities.

Yeah I know some people are saying that, but my point is they're the extremes and so by paraphrasing that POV just makes you come across as a troll (combined with some of your other posts). Having said that, I read over the thread again and it seems more people took that view than I originally thought so whatever, my post was prolly a little out of line.

I agree with the rest of your paragraph, though I don't think there's anything wrong with urging people to think their donations through and become a little more educated on the subject. This is obv wildly different from Kony, but at the time I don't think it made you an ******* to call people misguided in their donations (since most of them were!).

Anyway I'm sure this thread will cycle the same argument for a few hundred posts.
