because everyone in the poker community are stand up guys who would never mooch on a bet, or bet without having the money to pay up if they lose.

Jungle,

what happened to Tibster? I remember playing vs him a lot on FTP 25/50 but never knew who he was on Stars. He was kind of very very passive tight. You for sure know when he went to play Harrington it was for chip dumping reasons, as there is no way he could have had an edge.

I think you know that you are a favorite against Tom, especially since he doesn't play anywhere near the volume he did in the past, and you are just looking for easy money. I think this is bum hunting at it's finest and is pretty pathetic. Just be happy you won a bunch already and move on.

I've read some idiotic posts in my time on 2plus2 but this has to be right up there.

The David Lerner in this article was 76 in 2012. I highly doubt it's the same dude.

My guess is Dwan just wants to delay things. If Dwan has an upswing, he will be rolled to either settle or continue playing. If Dwan has a downswing, Cates is f-ed.

My guess is a lot of these people are just flat broke or have big time money problems. Even if you don't have someone's cell # to call/text them, with social media, it's so easy to contact people or track them down. If someone is ignoring someone else, it's obviously because they either don't want to pay or simply can't afford to pay.

Almost all of these high stakes poker guys, high profile or not, sound like degenerate gamblers. There are a few exceptions (galfond, dangs, etc.) but almost everyone else screams scummy gambler.

This isn't brain surgery. At some point between starting the challenge and now, Tom figured out he is the fish, so he is doing the scummy but smart thing, and not playing. If at some point in the future he thinks he actually has an edge, he'll continue.

I call him and say something like "wtf are you doing! you need to pay me with my money first." He then calls me and says something like tibster is forcing me to play him because I owe him money. It could be true, I couldnt say with absolute certainty but it is quite hard to trust his judgement.

Anyway, he actually does end up sending 250k back specifically so I actually lost 200ish K from this. I thought the fact that he sent anything back was very strange in retrospect, because if he truly intended to scam me, why send anything back at this point?

Regarding Tom, I already have a figure with him and and reducing the amounts from that figure. I believe Tom means well on the whole, but is unreliable because of his situation and character.

he asked if he was related. Seems like there is a good chance it could be his father.

Durrr will finish the challenge. He has a strategy. He is going to wait until one shiny day in the distant future when Jungleman's game tanks and he can actually beat him. It's simple game theory, people.

And no - given the background of epic 'challenges' - I do not understand why they don't clearly state hand minimums/month and penalties. This seems common sense.

^unlikely that even durrrr believes he will have an edge bigger than the amount he owes in penalties at any point in the future

Why is it every time there seems to be a massive thread about some scam it involves jungle man one way or another? Whether being the perpetrator or on the receiving end?

Some where it's always mentioned too how the durr challenge is on going

Kind of serves him right for allowing someone to run up over a million dollars of debt without a proper contract to protect himself. I'm tired of all these unpaid debt threads. Professional poker players can be so dumb sometimes. There are laws and procedures out there to take care of these things, use them!
