"Collusion" in WSOP Event #1
From Pokernews.com...
No Royal Treatment Here
Kathy Liebert and Jan Von Halle to her right were just involved in a hand in which Liebert checked the river and Von Halle checked behind. Sure, this isn't too big of a deal, but Von Halle checked behind with a royal flush.
As soon as the hands were turned over, Andy Black, Joe Sebok, and Amnon Filippi all jumped from their seats and yelled for the floor to come over. Von Halle was given a warning for collusion as he checked the absolute nuts last to act on the river.
The other players at the table chuckled, but all understand the seriousness that can ensue. The tournament directors that came to the table didn't find this a laughing matter at all.

Reason: amended title slightly as it's been pretty well established that it wasn't collusion, at worst it was softplaying and more likely to be the player misread his hand.

I understand why you have to warn a guy, but isn't this very likely to be an idiot who just wanted to make sure he showed down his special hand and didn't see any value in a bet anyway?

Katja's was eliminated about half hour ago.
A note, I'll eventually be locking the thread, posts such as these are more appropriate in the MTT Community or Tournament Circuit threads dedicated to the event.

Re: Collusion in WSOP Event #1
That's true, but as a counterpoint:
People are stupid.
