Re: Cliff notes of the 'Portuguese Poker Prodigy' Jose "Girah" Macedo scam

I hope Jungle doesn't feel the need to be loyal to Dog. Seems like Dog is dragging him through some sh*t.

Regarding that quoted post by Gregorio, am I the only person that interpreted that post as Greg suggesting that scenario #1 was the much more likely reality, and that the much more complex option #2 was laced with ironic overtones that most people now are misinterpreting as canny foresight?

I wouldn't be surprised if he acted on his own with regards to what was revealed today but the writing is on the wall that there's a lot more to this story than just him scamming some people out of 45K

This may be going over my head, but isn't Gregorio, in this post, using Occams' Razor to suggest that the 1st scenario was more likely?

I am kind of getting a sarcastic tone from his description of the second scenario.... I could have completely misinterpreted it tho

i can just hope that the prodigy goes to jail for a couple of years at least and pay back all his winnings ever. but what i would love to see is the bigger thing which is under the water...would be fun if that guy had to talk with the police about everything...would be a pretty fun story...

Re: Cliff notes of the 'Portuguese Poker Prodigy' Jose "Girah" Macedo scam

It's taken me all day to read the previous thread and now this one.

Everyone before me has pretty much speculated every possible outcome, so I have nothing to add other then to watch this play out.

I wonder if Jose is reading along with the rest of us...

Re: Cliff notes of the 'Portuguese Poker Prodigy' Jose "Girah" Macedo scam

As I stare out my window at the grey gloom of a late summer marine layer... I realize that I've barely gotten **** done all day, due to F5ing these threads.

I'm reminded of something my Dad used to say a lot, back when we would work on his old beaters in the crisp fall air until mom yelled at us that the pork chops were getting cold:
"DAMMIT!"
I slam my fist down on the desk and stammer loudly (loud enough to actually convince myself, I hope) "I'm lazy as hell and I'm going to stop reading 2p2 and go work out!" (right after I take a dump)

/Haseeb superfluous exposition scene

I also thought this. Seems clear hes suggesting #1. Occams razor does not suggest "the much more complex option #2 was laced with ironic overtones" (which 2 clearly is) is correct

Yeah it's really strange. Since the post he makes and the one he quotes talks about Occam's razor, it seems like option #2 is just written as a long "herpderplol" rambling that Gregorio thinks is completely ridiculous and not something he actually thinks is true.

I believe he was trying to show the paradox inherent in drawing conclusions using just Occam's Razor.
