A Cleveland poker game was robbed with assault rifles for $11,000. This is the second time the a poker game was robbed in Cleveland this year, last April another game was taken for $75,000. A player went out for a smoke, and had a gun put to his head, the thief then had him knock on the apartment door where the game was going on. The players were told to remove their pants, then a robber gathered all the pants and sprayed them with pepper spray.

“Everybody is close knit,” “We’ve all played together at one time or another. We were stripped down to our underwear.”

“I thought I learned my lesson,” he said. “I thought, ‘Here we go again.’ It’s been quite the months I’m having.”

I used to play in these meetup games about two years ago. There were a few times I was last to cash out in a night and would have to trek around downtown with a few g's in my pocket at like 3 AM. On my last trip out there, I almost got robbed outside where I had a couple thousand stashed in my sock, after that I just felt that the same type of people were always just lurking around outside the game as if they were waiting for something or someone they could target.

It sucks for the people involved, especially if people were part of both robberies, but seriously... Meetup.com is not the place to advertise any real stakes game. Sure, your 1/1 game or 50 dollar freezeout is fine, but with a couple of places in particular, you were really just asking to get nailed.
