Re: Chad Elie (Black Friday payment processor) pleads guilty

Why would the prosecution allow such a sweet deal? I thought they really had their heels dug in on this one.

Re: Chad Elie (Black Friday payment processor) pleads guilty

Who knows.

Maybe Elie had personal and incriminating correspondence with Bitar et al.

Care to elaborate? I've always understood it to be as easy a time as a convict could reasonably expect.

for us, the only good thing was were werent in cells, a big dormitory. they tell you when to eat, sleep, go outside, no television,no cell phones,no computers, no reasonable health care. horrible food, you just stick with your own race and keep your mouth shut.

Having to do time anywhere "sucks beyond description."

Having to do time in a Minimum Security Federal prison sucks less than having to do it at most other prisons.

Having visited more prisons than I care to remember (as an appellate attorney) and having discussed the matter with a lot of inmates, I would say the quality of life does not correlate with the security classification. It all comes down to how the place is run.

Lol this attitude.

"So he lost half a mil and only got a year in the pokey. He'll do alright."

1) As Blueknight said, ANY prison time ANYWHERE sucks. "Clubfed" might seem like a piece of cake compared to some state pens, but you're still crammed like sardines with a bunch of other criminals and you're life is not your own. I feel for him.

2) What makes you think he has that kind of loot buried in his back yard? I'm amazed the poker players from FTP et al are even surprised the money went up in smoke when they just ASSUME everybody involved made a mint.

Don't forget: it's because of the sacrifice of guys like this you were able to play your $0.02/$0.05 cash and $0.25 daily tourneys. Light a candle, have a bit of empathy.

Having also visited numerous prisons as a Criminal Defense attorney, I agree that security classification is not a 100% guarantee of a decently run facility. Yet minimum security Federal Prisons are generally the "best" run as far as considering where to do time if you have to do time.

That said, I agree in general with the sentiments of bulls-horn. While this may seem like a "sweet deal" in relation to the maximum sentence possible given all the charges originally filed against Mr. Elie, it is hardly a "slap on the wrist."

Cmon, they weren't doing it for love, they took a gamble which didn't pay off.

Re: Chad Elie and John Campos plead guilty

No Black Friday trial for now as John Campos is expected to plead guilty to a misdemeanor:

Get real they broke the law like every other criminal not for anyone other than themselves and money. For all the charges he got off easy with this plea bargain.

Re: Chad Elie and John Campos plead guilty

In Nathan Vardi's article on Elie's plea, he also gives up the rights to $25,000,000 in several payment processing accounts:

A misdemeanor ?

If this preliminary report is true and Campos will plead to merely a single misdemeanor, then this is the DOJ acting scared, not Campos.
