Can we discuss Cereus specifically? Can we discuss Cereus specifically?

ah ok most of the irish accounts related to pocket kings who do software in ireland- i thought they only worked for fulltilt tbh. They are not payment processors from what i know however 2 of the 11 men indicted were based there. Must have been more going on than the public knew.

"Founded with the goal of creating the best online poker experience anywhere, Pocket Kings provides Technology and Marketing consulting services to the online poker industry and one of the fastest growing poker sites, Full Tilt Poker."
from pocketkings.ie- weird

I`m no detective but one wonders why a so called consulting group would have so many accounts in Europe- very fishy

Just frustrated about the whole situation

To be fair, they are not taking deposits from Americans either (at last check). It could be the DoJ so disrupted their operations they have to get new accounts/entities set up and since its the weekend that may not be easy. My opinion is Cereus money is at greater risk than Stars/Tilt, but we don't yet know if they will be able to withstand this situation. It should become clear within a few days. A big question is whether they have sufficient credit to borrow heavily during this crisis.

mistake in the document; all pocket kings accounts are related to fulltilt not absolute poker- pocket kings provide the software and customer support for them but are listed under absolute

Did u see all the seizures of accounts in 2009 and in 2010- thats incredible! The sites were taking big hits the whole time

im making the assumption they dont want to approve withdraws until they are able to approve deposits. to prevent from going bankrupt.
04-17-2011 , 05:00 PM
They are processing some withdrawals and furthermore why does everyone assume they`re so bankrupt lol? If that`s the case why did Victory poker want to join the cereus network? Traffic was good there and overheads were not massive. I think they`re doing ok myself

Please pay attention. Nobody thinks they are "so bankrupt". However, the company itself reported several times over the last few years that it couldn't meet debt obligations and finally bailed out on a large debt ($100M) last year. If they could not meet obligations amounting to $2M/mo in 2009/2010, it is exceedingly difficult to see how a $500M forfeiture if effectuated doesn't crush the company and/or involve player deposits.

Yeah was responding to previous posters comment I could not get the accounts you referred to open eleven- would not disagree with much you`ve said so far. I find the 13 accounts pocket kings holds to be extremely interesting

As regards cereus could you elaborate more on what you think their safeguards are RE players funds- i do tend to believe they are in a european account- do you know whether they are under escrow? One would assume this to be a minimum requirement even if it is the kahnawake gaming commission we are talking about. Also, they used to have ecogra certification- wonder if thats says anything re players funds

I have no way of knowing for sure what the real reason is, but a couple of things come to mind.
Could be because the Mohawks figure the DOJ can't touch them and it just might be true. Last time someone went after them regarding another issue they brought out the "artillery"

Its because Stars/Full Tilt do not believe they are in violation of the law as written. When laws have been passed specifically outlawing the provision of poker, they have both blocked players (Washington State). Cereus has nearly always provisioned actual gambling games and know they are guilty of the charges because of this. They have always been outlaws in the eyes of US gambling law. There is no reason to believe that having formal charges will change their decision and as R*R intimates, the game servers are located on sovereign territory friendly to gambling companies. The more important question right now is do they have adequate resources to remain liquid?

short answer, no. not required to keep a min % of cash on hand. therefore, they probably distributed all earnings from 2010 already. now if you want to go knock on the shareholder's doors (of these three sites) be my guest. dont expect the us govt to do that, because if they do it will be their money - not yours.

Of course, that's why they had to get shadier and shadier.

can someone post a link to this bank accounts information ?
04-17-2011 , 06:47 PM
I'm wondering why they cut most of the guarantees in half today even though they're still accepting US players.
04-17-2011 , 06:50 PM
Because the player traffic is down significantly.

Yeah, that's why I said:

BTW, the cash flow and lawsuit problems are not proof that they don't properly segregate player funds, just an indication that they might not.

However their cash flow problems and their high % of US players are a very strong indication that they will be unable to continue to operate without their US player base.

Is anyone else having trouble contacting absolute poker? I sent an e-mail and I had it returned. Could it be the high volume of e-mails they might be receiving?

What do you mean - returned? Did you send it to absolutepoker.com?

That domain now is in the hands of the FBI/DOJ. Congratulations - they are reading your e-mail now!
