There's a huge difference between saying some form of cheating might be going on (collusion, team play, botting, etc.) and saying that the site has one or more superuser accounts set up on the production server.
OP probably doesn't know about the UB/AP scandal and anyone who doesn't might want to take a look at the forum stickies.
Obviously such an account might be occasionally necessary for development and QA, but I don't think it's a stretch to believe that reputable sites have disabled all such access on their live servers.
Also, the idea that you should only play micros and only for fun is silly. For one thing, playing for pennies might not be all that interesting to some people. And some of us are beating mid- and high- stakes games straight up, regardless of whatever cheating might be going on. Probably the woman who wrote the article just can't win at anything but micros.
