I'd say playing on the account of a known whale was much worse than 2/10. It's just flat out cheating, people will mistakenly use reads developed from playing the other guy when playing against him.

There are lots of cheaters in the poker world, so its okay. That logic is a big problem in poker.

People in this thread seem to think he's some godlike player. Go read the WSOP updates when he went deep in main event, go look at the PLO HH guy runs like the sun. Yeah people like Fedor run hot too but I never really thought Brian was that great a player tbh.

I have tons of friends who struggle day to day when some pompus cornell graduate whines cause he made bad investments and his run good is ending it just kinda pisses me off. Guy would have gotten destroyed if he played Viktor straight heads up and we would have seen this thread like 7 years ago.

In spite of the fact that you were a complete d-head in every interaction we've ever had, I'm happy for you to make a number out of thin air and I'll donate it to a charity we agree on (REG and GiveWell have good suggestions). It's about the principle, not the money, right??

My happiness has never been correlated with money. It's been correlated with relationships, experiences, achievements, and self-esteem. Some of those are boosted by winning money, but it's an indirect effect.

For anyone who thinks I'm washed up - I have an hour or 2 free right now before I start my day. I'm Tomato Patch on ACR. I'll be sitting at 15/30 NLH and PLO and 75/150 O8 trying to start games. I'm on my Macbook laptop with no HUD.

Take him down, ballers!!!!

Could not agree more about the lack of correlation between money and happiness. I am now living paycheck to paycheck after having 6 figs in the bank at one point and I'm the happiest I've ever been. Life rules and money doesn't matter, it only seems like it does.

Good luck to you, Brian. Hope to see you in Vegas at some point and have a few beverages.

From what I read on the internet, you agreed that you cheated this guy and thus owe him some amount of money.

But since he treated you like a douchebag thereafter you wont pay him what he is owed but will only donate it to charity?

Am I missing something here?

What does this have to do with paying what you owe?

I don't actually agree that I owe anyone anything in hindsight. I felt guilty and decided to pay off my gulit by making amends to those who felt wronged. I didn't entirely agree with the assessments but just wanted to move in. I intended this as a gesture to those who were clearly good people who felt wronged, whether I agreed or not. I don't think it's right to publicly mention names but these people were not my friends nor had any relationship with me, nor did I have any strong reads on them. I just wanted to move on.

When someone like hotmark proceeds to reveal his true character, I certainly don't feel like I owe him anything. If I called out everyone who's done something >= to as bad as what I did to him, I'd have a list of like 3,000 people who "owe me something"

Yes I lost over $1m playing mixed games before I started winning, worked really hard on my game, started winning, but now have a very hard time getting action on a regular basis. If there was a good mixed game to play every day, I might not be on my way out of poker. It's a lot of fun.
