Not sure if that other dude aspires to be on Brandon's level but if he does it's probably best that he not start fights with top pros. He should be trying to befriend Brandon and learn from him.
Why would a guy who plays 300/600 and higher games for a living take lessons from a broke tourney donk?

It's always funny how some confuse career tourney winnings for actual earnings. Brandon plays lots of events because he's staked in them, it's pretty clear Martin plays far fewer.

Winning high stakes players have to take a pay cut to play lost WSOP events; the payouts simply aren't big enough, the hourly expectation of a winning 200-400 regular is higher than even the best tourney players hourly expectation in $1500 or $3,000 events. During the WSOP the biggest & best side games of the year run, cash players can't afford to miss them.

Phil Helmuth is a good guy, but no genius, ask him how to play Badugi for a good laugh

Do you realize there's a 99.99999% chance he's just trolling you and doesn't actually believe this?

Jesse Martin is deep in the Monster Stack tournament. Below avg stack right now but I think he'll take this down.

Brandon Cantu vs. Jesse Martin in bracelets...
2-1 Brandon
In WPT titles...
1-0 Brandon and he dominated it (Bay 101, 2008)

Both are good players can't speak for the degen parts of either but w/ Cantu having Hellmuth in his corner he will continue to be around as far as a financial backing is concerned for quite awhile

You sound like someone who should not be allowed to live and work among the general public without a probation officer.

Most likely a warrant for failure to appear for jury duty if this is Clark County. Heard that happens a lot. They don't even bother arresting you for small amounts of drugs unless you are a jerk these days, but fail to show up when you've been out of town and they drop the hammer.

But he hasn't been out of town, he's been In town obv. Just saw the clip. Looks like he was cuffed and being led away by TSA. Bet he just pulled some classic Cantu non-sense.

They actually arrest you for that? I just served jury duty here in New Zealand, close to half those called didn't show up for selection and won't even be fined.

Depends where, generally no. Clark County has a transient population so the courts probably are fed up with people skipping it.

He's a scumbag. Always seems to be a problem at the table he's playing at.

Why do people dislike him so much? Other players have down much worse things and have stole 100's of thousands of dollars and nobody really cares. I'm not on either side...just curious.

He can be annoying like a lot of the American guys his age, but he melts down when you wind him up. So because of that a lot of people actively try to wind him up. It works well.

I witnessed the Jesse Martin ordeal a couple tables over last year, and it was mostly Jesse Martin's fault for trying to take it to the next level, but the whole table was lying to try and get Cantu thrown out. He got ganged up on for no real reason, but nobody reported the truth.

Yea, I did. Including the floorman on duty, obviously tipped well from Cantu previously, not throwing him out, when they would have DQ'd anyone else.

Jesse Martin was completely out of line, Cantu fell for it again (and did actually deserve a DQ), but the most egregious thing were the lies coming from the table trying to gang up on Cantu.

It was a s@#tshow for sure. I know Jesse Martin has a lot more supporters willing to lie for him, but that doesn't mean he wasn't in the wrong.

What did Cantu say that set Jesse off?

Other way around, Jesse interjected in a hand he wasn't involved with setting Cantu off. Jesse wasn't that agitated, he was just stirring things up, and whole table, and even adjacent tables joined in trying to set him off.

Cantu, the end 2 or 3 seat, went screaming a lot of things, so the whole tournament was watching it unfold. The WSOP floor did nothing for a good few minutes and allowed everything to escalate back and forth after the ruling. Then Cantu got up and shoved Jesse and went at his face. Jesse then shouted to throw this guy out like a little girl in stranger danger, and got all self-righteous about it.

While Cantu was only one to go physical, Jesse Martin was more insufferable. He obviously had an axe to grind with Cantu. Cantu acted like a child too, but it was unfair the group ganging up on him.

Word at the time was that Cantu owed a bunch of money to people who allegedly cheated him at chinese poker. Jesse Martin went there, and clearly knew what he was doing. That's the context of why Cantu may have gotten even more upset than normal. Whether that is true or not, I don't know, but Jesse Martin was being a d-bag more than Cantu for sure.
