I'm sold. I will stake him for the ONE DROP.
Seriously tho, you dont get to scam people out of money and then set the rules on how you would like to pay them back. Regardless of how tireless, tedious or irritating it may seem, paying back 20K in a year from working a day job out of a 500k debt is a huge step better than paying nothing and risking having your debt go from 500k to 600k.
At some point you have to realize that you cannot beat the games anymore, get a job and then use your own personal money to "bink a tourney" and pay people back. If that was not the case, I should borrow a bunch of money, put it on red and hold the loaner hostage with the saying if I cant get more money from you I cannot gamble it up to hopefully pay you back.
As hard as it is to hear, paying the money back will be hard. It will take a long time, I mean a very long time. 10 years plus, but if you do it the correct way you can save any little big of dignity you have left and not beg and plead for the next victim to finance your gambling addiction.
I know you feel like you are better than most people because you WERE ONCE A HIGHROLLER, but you are entitled to nothing more than the homeless guys on the street. At one point, you earned and were entitled to the luxury of having extra time to pay back a debt or not being bothered to answer every single text regarding an owed payment, but all of that ceased when you went from being a poker player running bad and making bad mistakes to a scamming pos that will lie/cheat/ and steal to scam the next person.
Regardless of how many pretty words you try to tie your explanation around, "such as I made mistakes" or "I did something the wrong way", you deserve none nor will you receive any credit. You need to utter the word, "I AM A SERIAL SCAMMER. I SCAMMED SEVERAL PLAYERS, FRIENDS, AND GENUINELY GOOD PEOPLE WITHOUT ANy CARE OR CONCERN FOR THEIR WELL BEING. I AM NOT A GOOD PERSON THAT MADE A MISTAKE, I AM A PERSON THAT DELIBERATELY PLOTTED AND SCHEMED IN ORDER TO STEAL WHAT OTHERS WORKED SO HARD FOR." That is how an apology is done and you Mr. Booth have not given a proper apology.

You're not alone my friend, many of our hero's and the very best of the best have fallen victim to this insidious disease (Stu Ungar, Archie Karas, Michael Jordan...and countless more)!
It makes it especially harder and more frustrating when you are a great poker player and yet happen to have the mother of all gambling problems. It sucks, trust me I know!
It's like you're an alcoholic who happens to be one of the best bar tenders in the world and have to work in bars all day but can't drink, or like a Ferrari that can go 0-100 in 3 seconds but just doesn't have a break pedal and crashes all the time....it's tediously frustrating battling this thing on a daily basis and many people cross over to drugs and alcohol. Let there be no mistake this disease is a "Silent Killer" if left untreated!
No one will truly understand this disease unless they have been gripped by it. Most people unfortunately think that compulsive gamblers actually have a conscience choice to gamble which is wholly inaccurate. Unfortunately, as most compulsive gamblers will tell you we are slaves to our subconscious mind and compulsive (fight of flight response actions) which are entirely chemically induced. Unfortunately the science behind understanding this god awful addiction is so behind and misunderstood that people are just so ignorant about it, its shocking!
Let me say it loud " Being a pathological or compulsive gambler is no different than someone who suffers from Schizophrenia! Some people will disagree with this statement but while I respect their opinion I know better!
To beat this thing Brad you need to truly understand the science behind why you do the things that you do (which are currently not under your conscious control) and you need to have the help of pioneering experts in this field (Not talking about idiots in 12 step groups like Gambler Anonymous) who are able to help you retrain your mind to be able to gain control without even sweating it. That my friend needs to be your number one priority!
It will be very hard work but you can do it! I'm proof of that!
Good Luck and if you ever need any help with this thing PM me, it won't cost you a thing!
Regards
GD

Re: Brad Booth's Apology to WCGrider, Others, and Poker Community
It seems to me that someone is giving him his tourney entry fees and then letting him keep half the profit. Who wouldn't do that? If that's the case he has to play. That could work out to be a huge markup with no risk. Somebody likes him.

Re: Brad Booth's Apology to WCGrider, Others, and Poker Community
Also, I do not think you are a bad person Brad, but sometimes good people make very bad decisions and do things that are very wrong including scamming people. In either case, you should be treated like what you are which is a scammer and arguable a criminal. Maybe some jail time is in store for you in the future and that would probably be the best thing for you, because that would be a step closer to rock-bottom.
And we all know until a junkie reaches rock-bottom there is no sollice.

Re: Brad Booth's Apology to WCGrider, Others, and Poker Community
Unlike some recent poker dirt bags, Mr. Booth seems to have some remnants of a human conscience and confesses that he has some serious personal problems.
That's a beginning and more than many other, more famous poker bobble-heads have promised or accomplished.
Good luck.

Re: Brad Booth's Apology to WCGrider, Others, and Poker Community
Prison rarely solves anything, in fact it usually makes people worse (criminals or not), I would say that he needs some form of rehab or counselling plus therapy (CBT perhaps), and a serious change of lifestyle. Like someone above said, get out of the gambling industry and go to the real world, get a 9-5, volunteer, go to the gym etc, get out of the fast lane sir, it clearly won't end well for you

The bolded may be the case, but addicts can reduce the consequences of their addiction easier than people with genetic mental defects. If Brad went to jail for example, he will be decreasing the harm on his debts and his relationships because he cannot worsen them through gambling. He might still have the urge or the adrenaline but in jail there are no 50-100 NL games. A person with a mental disability is going to have metal break downs where ever they go. So while I understand some small comparisons with the two, you need to stop scapegoating for Brad and realize his future is completely in his hands.
