Re: Brad Booth's Apology to WCGrider, Others, and Poker Community
Brad is in a really dark place. Gambling addiction is very dangerous.
For those that say just stay away from the pits they don't understand addiction. It can f*** up your mind in ways you cannot imagine.
It's good that Brad made the first step to admit that he has a problem. He needs to deal with it and turn his life around.
Best of luck to you Brad, and make sure you work hard to stay clean.
Make a plan (a real plan with pen and paper and all that) of how you will repay. Make realistic deadlines and milestones and i'm sure you can do it. Accept the fact that your image is destroyed and that it will take a LOT of time to rebuild it. and don't waste another day. The sooner you start, the sooner this will be over

if I was a sitting United States elected official reading 2+2 , I would be killing myself lobbying against this horrible industy
this is coming from someone who has been playing online and live since day 1

congratulations, you're a ****ing idiot. perhaps the awesome gov't should make asset management firms illegal too b/c of madoff. hell, maybe everything that poses any sort of risk to participants or provides any avenue for scamming/theft should be illegal. let's all sit around in our boxers and suck our own dicks.
as for the rest of the thread ... standard NVG idiocy. it's impossible to know exactly what's going on inside brad's head, doesn't make a ton of sense to speculate about it. i know this forum is meant for gossip like this, but then again, this forum is generally a waste of time. doug, i always thought you seemed like a great guy. i hope you see that money.
edit: my apologies for the obnoxious tone, but my god is reading idiocy like this tilting. have you (and the others who think the way you do [poorly]) considered that part of the reason the poker world is rife with scams these days is that it's not a natural market?

if any elected official bothers to read 2+2, then I think all the surplus of scandals, rollings, and habitual degeneracy is going to be a pretty strong influence on his (or her) voting tendencies.
I won't lose a wink of sleep if poker never comes back.
I love poker, but I'm so weary of all this nonsense
**** Brad Booth
I have zero sympathy for this clown anymore
just another cumstain on the underwear of the poker world
I don't think that's an unfair statement at all

Re: Brad Booth's Apology to WCGrider, Others, and Poker Community
what would happen in that scenario ("if any elected official bothers to read 2+2...") is different than what you think should happen. the us gov't has taken a giant dump on online poker, something that many of us love(d) and from which many of us make (made) a living. who knows/cares what's going to happen; these scumbags are unpredictable and have proven without a shadow of a doubt that they'll do whatever gets them paid and/or re-elected.

really? you think the illegality of online poker is justifiable? i sure as hell don't. how can you justify it? the fact that it houses scammers? so does literally every industry in existence. what's different about this one?
brad booth might be a scumbag (the future will improve the extent to which we can assess this), but in my book, he's not even close to as big of a scumbag as 99% of the us congress.

You have anger issues and calling someone a f'ing idiot never helps your point of view or changes someone else's.

Re: Brad Booth's Apology to WCGrider, Others, and Poker Community
Those on this thread feeling sorry for BB and wishing him luck really have no clue whatsoever. This is exactly the sentiment BB wanted to elicit with that video. He clearly does not have control of his life, and rather than coming clean and admitting that he is an addict who is destroying himself, he wants to prolong the agony by going to the poker "community" and begging for forgiveness and a 2nd chance ( i.e more loans ! ).
Whoever is backing him for WSOP is a poor money manager, irresponsible, and doing BB no favors. BB needs to walk away from poker and all other forms of gambling FOREVER.
As I said previously, BB needs to look on the bright side : (1) relatively young , (2) in apparent good health ( as long as stop drink ) , (3) gambling debts are undocumented and unenforceable.
If BB walks away from poker & gambling NOW, he may be able to salvage some family & friends relationships. If he continues on with poker & gambling, he will lose all friends and eventually family too !, and will probably end-up an alcoholic/junkie and ultimately take his own life.
We are witnessing Stu Ungar real-time, and anyone providing BB with even the faintest illusion that he has any chance continuing on in the gambling world is doing him an extreme disservice.
