Re: U.S. FTP Players- Contact DOJ

Wasnt there some issue or obscurity previously with the Govt/DOJ's definition of deposit? I seem to remember something about this and our definition of deposit being different than theirs. Our definition of deposit = money we actually deposited on the site (credit card etc). Theirs being deposit = balance.

It seems absolutely preposterous that the DOJ would try to refund only what ppl had actually deposited with credit cards etc. No way imo.

If the DOJ doesn't plan to screw players it would be a huge relief to everyone involved if they made a simple press release suggesting that they intend to return player balances as best as possible through the remission process. I would hope that when the deal is in effect at the end of the week they'll make such a press release and we'll all be able to breathe a sigh of relief.
Absurd ideas is what attracts readers.

On the phone with them now, the original number posted for SDNY isn't the right number to call. You want to call the press office at : 212-637-2600

Re: The Big Question For Full Tilt's U.S. Players: Will They Get Their Poker Winnings Back?

LOL the US government is just funny. Who cares about US citizens. Why would they!

Let us grab some money off them if we can.

Balances:
You $1480
Me $500
you get $1000 and I get $500 and the DOJ keeps the rest.
What if you never deposited on FTP but got funds via a transfer from another player for $1000. Then over the next 6 months ran it up over $100,000. Would you be owed $0?

The girl on the line was pretty clueless and essentially told me that nothing had been decided as far as US payouts go, and that we will learn more in the future. Next week maybe?

Agreed and have long agreed. But Nathan Vardi and John Pappas seem to be giving it credibility. With $150 million on the line, I don't think it hurts for everyone to contact them and let them know how absurd it would be.

"John Pappas, executive director of the Poker Players Alliance, the Washington D.C. lobbying group, said it would be “ludicrous” for the government to not pay U.S. players what they had on deposit at Full Tilt and said his group will “play a role in the process.”

"Pappas also said it could be a logistical nightmare for the U.S. government to figure out how much players deposited on Full Tilt instead of just paying back what they had on deposit in April of 2011. There is still a lot riding on what finally gets decided in Washington."

Either $0 or $1000. Seems so unlikely they could even contemplate doing this, but contact them just to make sure.

That would go a long way towards letting me know if I should bother with this.
it sounds like you didn t pay your taxes.

No way. Pretty sure "deposits" refer to money on hand. Not physical "deposits." Similar to a checking account or whatever, the amount you had in your account was "on deposit"

Honestly, it seems beyond stupid that the DOJ didn't have a plan for this before the deal closed. Why just start to make one up after the deal?

Exactly what I told her on the phone. So ridiculous. I guess it's better though to be in the hands of the DOJ than just in constant 2+2 speculation.

Sincerely hope so. I just don't understand why Vardi and Pappas seem to suggest otherwise.

Either way DOJ should be contacted with requests for full repayment of account balances.
