LOL.... apparently they never got that annoying customer who always wanted to keep you 15 mins after your shift officially ended.... or never had a job that wasn't going to allow them to be off at the specific time their schedule said...

Yeah, are you telling me no one is running Stars right now? Someone is in charge, and has obviously told everyone to keep quiet. This has been a story for like 6 hours and there is no denial or statement whatsoever.

Re: Big News: PokerStars Purchases FTP(?)

Thinking about it, if the deal is 750m, then it is probably 260m in player balances and 490m in fines. Assuming the DoJ is going to use a similar deal to GBT, then Stars would only have to pay 80m of player balances instead of 150m.

I'm sure they'll make a statement...when they're ready.

Probably 0% chance this deal happens unless all issues DoJ has against Stars are completely cleared up. That's the MAIN thing Stars gets out of this, and frankly them acquiring FTP takes a mess off the DoJ's hands, so both parties come out winners.

DoJ can't agree to re-entry, because that will ultimately be determined by the laws that govern regulation. But DoJ can certainly agree to settle all their complaints against Stars, which previously would have definitely excluded Stars in a regulated environment.

If Pokerstars has in fact worked out a deal with the DOJ, then this must have been in the works, and behind the scenes, for weeks or even months.

If so, amazingly well played by PS!!

Re: Big News: PokerStars Purchases FTP(?)

I think this deal makes a lot of sense if all outstanding charges against Scheinberg are dropped plus there is an agreement for no prosecutorial action in the future based on Pstars' actions pre-Black Friday.

Anurag Dikshit paid $300 million to guarantee his freedom and got nothing else in return. Isai is paying more, but he is facing more serious charges. Plus, he is getting the Fulltilt business and the goodwill of poker players around the world.

Re: Big News: PokerStars Purchases FTP(?)

You just have to think about it like this.... if GBT officially stated that the deal is off after they were balls deep in this.... something major HAD to have happened! After they were posting job openings and the site was on "green" status the other night. That just shows you how far they came to opening it up and only something like this could have stopped the deal from happening. Just my 2 cents.
