I hope he is wrong, the day that pokerstars starts making business decisions because there is a 2+2 thread about it is the day online poker is officially dead.

I like playing on Stars, always have done, but only because I worked for FTP. FTP in it's prime was gold. Stars are very good, but no-one wants to see a monopolised market do they? Damn, I wish GBT had gone through.....

In 3 years, we'll rue this day.

pokerstars doesnt want to be remembered as the company that let the community down, they will pull the trigger either way

Spoiler:
Lets say Stars are not actually planning on buying FTP and this is the level of the year... Its not like they are going to dig deep and pull out $750 million just so they "dont let the community down"

Or, if stars find a big enough reason to pull the plug - they will.

Re: Big News: PokerStars Purchases FTP(?)

this is good in terms of players getting paid back, but doubt it has anything to do w pokerstars or ftp ever serving us players again. pokerstars prob just did this to settle the legal problems against them

Re: Big News: PokerStars Purchases FTP(?)

If Stars doesn't purchase FT at this point, I think they're going to turn from the most trusted poker site into the most hated (even more than RB, CF, HL, etc.) because not only did they cause the GBT deal to fall through, but they themselves didn't repay players (which is just a ****ed up way to eliminate competition). I doubt this could ever happen, though.

The only logical move is to keep everything fairly similar to the old FTP. There are reasons why some people chose FTP over Stars. If they offer 2 differentiated services, they increase the barrier of entry for someone to become a big player
