ty! regarding asking for money for a project that is already finished, the funds are being put towards finishing costs and distribution:

1) Paying final licensing fees for video and music included in the film

2) Paying contractors who helped with the film (motion graphics, sound editors and mixer)

3) Renting a booth at the 2013 World Series of Poker with a mounted TV, to play clips from the film and talk to poker players about it

4) Generating publicity for the movie - (advertising, partnerships, etc.)

5) Costs of theatrical screenings/tour

6) Additional efforts to obtain wider distribution

We worked on this film alone for almost three years, and now we want to bring more people in on the experience and offer them the ability to preorder the film, DVD, poster, and other cool stuff that they might want in return for a pledge. The more people that pledge, the more people we have out there talking about this film and helping us share it with the world.

Believe me, there is more money to be made playing or teaching poker than there is in making documentaries. We made this movie to dispel misconceptions about poker players and to do good for the game. If you don't agree with the sentiment, don't pledge - the movie will be available for purchase on June 30, and we plan to get it onto Netflix and iTunes and Amazon and further outlets for distribution as well. Plenty of other ways to see it and share it.

Fully with that sentiment, I feel so compelled to pledge my money to support high-stakes poker players and "online poker's elite players/superstars".

That's not really pertinent to what's being discussed regarding Kickstarter. Good luck with the project and everything, but holding out your collection plate for this documentary seems a little strange.

Poker player should be in his underwear to fit the cliche.

I totally understand where this sentiment comes from, but I just want to again reiterate that this Kickstarter is to help support the movie we made, which is the story of the online poker boom, the evolution of poker and the modern day poker player.

Three years ago we assembled a bunch of high stakes poker players to throw their money into this thing because they all thought it would be a good thing for poker if a documentary like this existed. Now we need more people to buy into that in order for us to succeed in our mission. We want to get this film in front of as many people as humanly possible.

I look forward to providing monetary and word of mouth support. I never played online, but I feel this will be entertaining, and hopefully it educates the general public.

Dude, they put hella time and effort into making this film for the good of poker and poker players and because it's important to them. I doubt they planned on it as a source of income. You should be thankful. You don't have to pledge, it's just an option they're offering. And it's ridiculous to attack them for trying to keep costs down. Every successful business tries to keep costs down. It's called being smart and managing the aspects of business that make you successful.

I support the project but ehh if youve been on 2+2 and youve been playing since the "boom" what's to watch.From moneymaker to the uiega to black friday what possible revelation or new insight could i get that i havnt already gotten 100 differnt times by 100 different people over the last 10 yrs.
Not to mention the uiega and black friday i could do without reliving.
Though i could see it being interesting to someone who hasnt played a hand of poker in the last 10 yrs.

Look, I am totally with the movie and the conceptual ideas and the work behind it, I'll be telling people to check it out, and I can't wait to see it myself. Business model-wise, yeeahhh, whatever, wealthy people asking for monies, you know.
