Current affairs is the word you're looking for . And I have no idea how the governments actually work in Belgium, does anyone really?

Currect affairs is about urgent matters and important things that are nearly finished. These KB's are neither urgent or nearly finished.

Just because one KB took 7 years doesn't mean anything. It can be made today, and signed tomorrow (well, not really atm, but you get the point). Just a matter of how many people have other views on it.
If you want to know something about the workings of the government, just google/wiki it.
Most important thing about a KB: it doesn't need to be voted.

My french is bad but my attempt at cliffs:
While all sites knew an increase in traffic, only a very small percentage of that increase actually started playing real money poker, and thus after the initial boom traffic has dropped considerably, and is expected to keep dropping the coming months, which questions the effectiveness of the system/law.

Very good news if I got it right.

good news

1.1 Deposit Bonus/Promotions
Although Estonian players will have to sign into the Estonian Client, they
will still be able to play against .COM players. This means that they will
be eligible for all global promotions and will still use the First Deposit
Code STARS600.

VERY good news, and was kinda expecting this, even if everyone in Estonia played poker the servers would still have been pretty empty .

in English free and cliffnote-like translation: we realize the problems of the international playerpool and hourly loss. Since we don't have a government at the moment we have to wait until a new government settles in. Remarks and suggestions from u will be usefull and welcome.
if so, we are safe for a while, I don't see a new government anytime soon

email from pokerstars

1.5 Commission and Tax
Due to legal requirements, PokerStars will be required to pay tax on revenue
(rake & tournament fees) generated under the Estonian License.

So Pokerstars now have an operating license in Estonia? Only them and Olympic atm, basically they have 100% of Estonia's legal online poker players. Well 95% will, 4% IP/domain hack to get on Tilt etc and 1% play on Olympic.

According to this article Belgium went the way of only licensing Belgian licensed B&M's today. Can anyone confirm? Are there other articles on it? This is the only one I can find ATM so I'm hoping someone can confirm.

Edit, is this just recycled old news? If so what is the current status?

Correct. It's the obligation of the ISP to block the user. Anyone who wants can still play anywhere tho, just 2 clicks away.

Beginning of January till end of January I have examinations anyway so wouldn't be the worst timing to be blocked from my poker addiction for a while .

I do plan on still writing a letter though, am starting at it today or tomorrow.

Has anyone seriously considered wether printing something in the media would be a good idea?

State lottery plans to launch poker-site in Belgium in 2011 (and a bookmaker function).
Reason: to benefit from the 145.000 online belgian players, and to compete with the 'illegal gambling sites' (referring to pokersites or sportsbookmakers...?)

Well, this is ok as long as they dont block the competition
