Re: Belgium wanna apply same law as in France

From a person fighting for poker rights in the US, I wanted to post my admiration and best wishes to you guys in Belgium.

With Google translation and a small familiarity with French and Dutch i have been able to follow the posts (at a basic level) and it seems to me you guys are doing great work.

It will take some work to get your politicians (most of whom have never actually played poker) to understand that poker will not work under the same business model that works for slots, banked games, and sports betting, especially in country the size of Belgium. But it can be done.

If there is something you think we in the US can help you with, feel free to contact me.

Re: Belgium wanna apply same law as in France

Gilius, very nice effort!

The only suggestion I have is giving a few numbers comparing France and Belgium to really prove why our player pool would be too small. Pokerstars provided the number of entrants per country to the scoop championship here:
http://scoop.pokerstars.com/stats/al...try_total.html

So while the exact numbers are maybe not that relevant, you can get a general idea about how popular poker is in various countries: France is top 5, with about 7 times as many players as Belgium, and they're already complaining about the number of players.

bedankt voor al het werk!

Re: Belgium wanna apply same law as in France

I found a programmer who wants to make a site. He's not a designer, but no need to do flashy things. He also has a pokerwebshop so there will be a small logo from him in the side.

It will include:
- what's the current state
- things that have been done
- what we
- forum

what I need:
good detailed overview on how the current law stands.
good ideas on what approach to take.
Translators, preferably native frenchspeaking. best case dutch -> french, otherwise English -> french
other good ideas for the site.

PM if you have/are one of those

I would suggest exemple from france and Italy , why it s not working , why protectionism is bad, a little story bout their strike , why refulars are important for sites, why it s even worse in belgium , i would had an article about the netherlands, the Dutch has declared ( on court) that poker is a game of skill and not a gamble one like lotto, blackjack, roulette , etc

It IS open to europeans.

First draft of the site is ready, found someone who might be willing to translate to French, gonna start translating to English myself this week. Not putting any deadlines on it, but having a working website around the time we have a government should be doable.

Re: Belgium wanna apply same law as in France

Temporarily site is up. Only in dutch atm.
It's a template site which I quickly made, the final site will be nicer and be in English and French too. It'll have a forum build in the site.
Content should be about the same though.
