I'm confused as to why UB wouldn't have written something in a contract saying he couldn't devulge this information prior to the airing of the program. Seems like a bad business move to me. Oh yeah, we are talking about UB.

You said UB trimmed the prizes from last year, which is untrue. UB only offered 3 Aruba seats last year, not 6. I would know -- i played the final table and won one of the 3 packages.

In fact, UB ADDED a 2nd main event seat this season, in addition to the 3 Aruba packages. This is why the production staff was not 'forthcoming' until the final table was set -- this additional prize was a bonus from last year, meant to be a positive surprise for the lucky 6 who made it that far.

As far as the 'overwheming schedule,' i hardly think that anyone minded a few long days to have a 4-in-24 shot into the WSOP or Aruba main events. Plenty of other people would kill for a chance at a freeroll like that!

Heres another view of another man's take on the BDPS. It was posted in another forum earlier today. The first reply to the posting is by 'Sassy Texan', and Sassy was also a contestant on the show. Sassy is none other than Shawn Rice's girlfriend. This fact is well known within UB circles. AND YES, the Montana Frat Boy connection was present at the show (more later).

Nobody really likes thieves, Montana Frat Boys, or shameless shills...

if the contestants didnt sign confidentiality agreements, i see no problem here. shouldnt ub be at the top of their game right now, as far as contracts and loopholes go? seems like their bad, lol

anyway this insider preview will only help ratings, not hurt it imo.. i kinda wanna watch it more now after reading this, whereas my interest before was basically 0.

So the next time they hold this, Poker Ho's wife/girlfriend gets to be on the show?

Last season Annie's boyfriend Joe was on the show and it got even worse. One of the first eliminations was a guy that was the chip leader but Annie did not think he was agressive enough. Then Joe was eliminated but Annie gave him a "do over" and he got a second chance because he had a bad break and he had potential. The whole thing was so stupid and after 2 episodes, I could not watch anymore.

Surely you're not suggesting it was rigged, are you?

as someone who has produced televised poker in the past, i must admit this show sounds awful.

What kind of "Services" did Annie Duke make Hollywood Dave perform to get on ALL her shows? Maybe she won him in a tournament.

SPOILERS: Well there goes the other 10 people that watch the show.

Are there any new celebs this year besides Annie Duck's boyfriend?
09-16-2008 , 04:46 AM
more on the presence of the montana frat boys connection please.

The following link was provided previously, but I will give it to you again. The posting was made at THAT OTHER SITE by Jason, another contestant on the BDPS. Please read Jason’s posting before reading PART 3 below.

http://www.pocketfives.com/poker-for...306966#3306966

PART 3 (The Final Chapter but certainly not the ENDING)

I like Jason, and I would NEVER deny his right to voice his opinion. I feel bad that my actions adversely affected him monetarily, and he deserves better. I also let Mark Kroon and another player on my team down terribly. Mark supported me fully throughout the audition process and during the taping of the show, and I will miss Mark. I considered him a friend. My apologies to those who deserve it…

The FT was filled with skill and ‘good people’ as 3 of the 6 players (myself and Jason included) played to the cameras. We WERE NOT overwhelmed by the situation and there was much playful table banter and good hearted ribbing. It was not acting, as we were being ourselves and having fun. We sang, told bad jokes, and made fun of each other. Understand, we were not instructed by Fox or UB to do this, and it just naturally happened that way. We liked and respected each other. Just friends playing poker…

A personal friend of mine was the first to be eliminated on what could be characterized as a ‘bad shove/steal’ versus a ‘real hand’. We have talked much since the show, and he describes the scene following his elimination as follows: He was eliminated, and felt awful that he had ‘bluffed his chips off’. Upon his elimination Fox Sports cameras ‘got in his face’. AND he told them ‘Get them %#$&%# cameras outta my face!’ The staff then told him to report to an interview with the ‘Bad Boy of Blackjack‘. It is my opinion that Fox did not want to give him time to regroup, and wanted to capitalize on his pain. He told them, “Do you mind giving me a moment?’

The next elimination was a pretty standard confrontation, and we were then down to 4 players when what Jason describes in his post occurred in the last hand before the dinner break. During the course of the hand in question, AND DON’T QUOTE ME ON THIS, as I am paraphrasing, my opponent says ‘You got a Jack?’ after he had raised me, and I think I replied ’I think we both know neither one of us has a Jack, phucker’. I make the laydown, he flashes a 7. I then said ‘show one show all, I want to see that hand dealer!’ and the dealer showed the player’s other card (a jack) before Matt Savage could stop the dealer. My opponent then went ballistic. I have logged nearly 20000 hours of live play and I estimate that I have played poker in well over 50 Casinos around the country and the rules are different EVERYWHERE…it was no shot at the game.

Matt Savage then leaned over and stated that I was being penalized ‘one orbit’ and said ’Scotty, you can’t call him a phucker’. I protested that NO ONE had told us that we were playing under TDA rules or that at anytime was it made known that penalties could/would be imposed. My opponent immediately said ’Matt, I’m not offended’, in my defense but the penalty stood. This was NOT a tournament, it was a reality show. Take this to the bank..I would NEVER ever make such a silly mistake had we been told. Either Matt, UB, or my coaches failed me in this regard. I reacted as only a member of TEAM HELLMUTH should (just call me ‘Baby Brat’). I told Savage, ‘Well see about this!’ as I stormed off to be alone and think (part act/part anger/part fatigue).
09-16-2008 , 04:57 AM
When I returned to the dining area, I wouldn’t speak to Matt about the ruling, but he wanted to. I didn’t want things to escalate while Matt had dinner with his wife, and I had decided to take the issue up with FOX. I issued the ultimatum to FOX that if the penalty was enforced, I would walk. An FOX assistant named Bob Skolnick said, ‘The penalty is being enforced’ and he then said, AND I QUOTE ‘ If you walk, we’ll make you look bad on TV.’ I then looked at him and said, ‘That’s your ace in the hole? That’s it, I’m done!’ We began to argue as he followed me to the exit, and I finally turned around and said ’You better get off my back!’ He wisely took the hint as I exited the casino.

I then rode the shuttle 15 miles to the Hilton. I immediately went to my room, and began to pack, when the phone rang. It was the Executive Producer who stated that ‘Phil’s not mad at you (like I give a chit what Phil Smellmuth thinks), but the penalty will stand.’ I replied, ‘I’m checking out’ and hung up. I packed my bags and walked to the hotel next door in hopes of avoiding a confrontation while ordered a rental to be delivered to the Hilton. The rental guy said he would be there in 10 minutes, and when I return to the Hilton FSN cameras got in my face (the only footage shot at the hotel) and my rental had NOT ARRIVED. The Executive Producer sent them 15 miles to get the footage. Hotel security took my side and offered me shelter in a private waiting room while I waited for the rental. My live-in girlfriend called and was very upset during this time…

The Executive Producer called my home in Illinois and attempted to persuade her to persuade me to return! What would you do?! Cheryl got the news of my walking off the set from a COMPLETE STRANGER! I gave the cameras a great quotes as I left. The guy said ‘What would it take to make you return Scott?’ I acted crazy and said, '$50000! I’m offended and THIS is why I cant work with you people! I think Matt has something against people named Scotty (in reference to Scotty Nyugen’s HORSE debacle). No one extorts Scotty Clark, Scotty Clark extorts extortionists! You guys (the FOX guys) are working with KNOWN THIEVES! Besides, you can’t use any of this footage anyway, because I NEVER signed the release!’ Ooooooops. It dawned on me a few days later in the Dallas Airport that UB gave us releases when we arrived in California (which I did not sign and turn in), but I actually think I signed a release in July at my audition.

I would later listen to a message on my cell from the Executive Producer that stated, ‘Phil wants you to know that you’re an elimination from an Aruba package’. I went on the show for specifically two reasons: ONE to step out of Self and observe myself in a poker arena to improve Self TWO to showcase my poker skills for potential backers I know. The fact of the matter is, I did NOT want to walk off the set. I wanted a discussion concerning the ruling AND make it understood that I may have been a victim of Ultimate Bet’s inability to address rules during the shoot. Once I was threatened with the threat of making me look bad on television…I WAS DONE.

I have more fun facts concerning MATT, PHIL, the Montana Frat Boy Connection, other shills in the contestant pool, but I’m saving them for when this thread gets stale. Here’s one for the road. During the Tournament of Champions, according to Phil Hellmuth Jr., Annie and Phil made a deal. $750K each and they played for the remaining $500K. That was, in fact, a $500K fit Phil threw…imagine what a $2 million fit looks like!

Good Luck and ENJOY!

Scott Clark

Oh the drama! You played right in to their hands there mate, one guy storming off is much better reality tv than if you'd just kept playing.
09-16-2008 , 05:06 AM
Don't you think all that was a bit of an over reaction to the penalty?

It was a whole orbit, though.

And I think the reaction was more to the threat of "If you don't play by our rules, we'll make you look bad on TV".

By the way, I think it's cool you said this, but it sucks that they'll definitely edit it out. Wouldn't want to advertise UB's superusers on their own show.

no one cares and no one will watch

LOL at all of this. What did anyone expect signing up to be in a show run by these people ? By which I mean both UB collectively and Annie Duke/Hollywood Dave.

Funny story OP, however, you sound completely insane
