Barry Tanenbaum, RIP

Hi folks -
Many of the old-school Las Vegas and San Jose poker players know and love Barry Tanenbaum, who's been a fixture in the mid-limit poker scene for a couple of decades. He's written for Card Player forever, was a fixture in the $20-40 LHE game at Garden City and then the $30-60 and $40-80 LHE games at the Bellagio.

He's given poker seminars on cruises, taught dozens of players via private lessons.

Most importantly, he's been gracious and generous with his time and expertise to a generation of poker players, and he's done it always with a smile. He is a truly a lovely human being.

Now the bad news: Barry is on a ventilator in a Las Vegas hospital. I wish I could say the prognosis is good, but I fear it is not.

Those of you who know him - please post here. Just say you're thinking of him and provide a few words of support for his wife, Betty (a legendary prop player at Garden City in San Jose).

You old-schoolers, and you know who you are, please say a word or two of support for Barry and Betty; I'll make sure Betty sees them. Thank you in advance.

Regards, Lee

A True asset to those of us who started out only playing limit holdem. One of the bosses in the bay area for sure and the first atricle I would turn to in cardplayer. Will be praying.

Will do. Your description of him as generous, gracious, smiling and a great person is accurate. He understands poker in a way I always wished I could but more importantly he has always been an all around good person and good spirit. I hope a miracle occurs.

His name and limit hold'em are almost synonymous for me. I've learned a lot from his literature. My thoughts are with him and his family...
