There has been a trend of superficial blocker talk recently (in 2013 and 2014). Don't worry -- Galfond does it in his HUPLO vids from time to time, so it's not like the offenders are in bad company. I've done it myself too, a lot.

The most common patterns seem to be: 1) bringing up blockers before nailing down reasonable / accurate ranges; 2) highlighting one card in a holding as a blocker but failing to account for the compensatory anti-blocking effects of the other cards; 3) accounting for card removal effects on one sub-range (a value range, for example), and using that to justify a decision, while ignoring card removal effects on another sub-range (a bluffing range, for example). #2 and #3 sometimes overlap.

So, yeah, by "too much" I mean "premature".

TYa, the basic problem with talking about blockers is that the problem of determining ranges is an order of magnitude harder than determining how blockers effect it. So even if people do 2 and 3 correctly, it is usually pretty easy to say "these blockers shift his range towards bluffs a bit" without having any good idea of what his range actually is. A lot of naive poker "analysis" ends up being something like "omg i blocker one of his value hands so I call lololololol".
