LOL, I think someone I know took that pic whilst he was dealing/on a break at that casino. Gossip only, but if I remember the story, some guy came up to PI and gave him those bills(payed him back etc), apparently PI hardley acknowleded the dude and just dropped the bills on the floor as he stayed focussed on the game. Makes sense now that Archie was sitting at his right.

probably not......for 99% of "regular people" its alot worse to have that much money and lose it than never having any money. You get that taste. But you could be like Archie and be in that 1%. I dunno

assuming you started with $10,000 like Archie did, where is your threshhold?

For me, I would guess it would be around $100,000. Meaning if I ran $10,000 to $100,000 I would stop gambling at that point and bank the win (use it for investments or whatever else I choose).

So obviously I would NEVER EVER HAVE THE POSSIBILITY OF WINNING ANYWHERE NEAR THE AMOUNT ARCHIE WON. And neither would any of you other people ITT saying you would have kept some of the millions.

No you wouldn't have. Because you never would have won the millions in the first place because you would have banked the win far short of millions so you would NEVER EVER IN A MILLION YEARS BE IN ARCHIE'S SITUATION.

You cannot win like Archie because you will always bank the win.

Archie won $40 million because he would never bank the win.

Archie lost it all because he would never bank the win.
I feel like archie when I think back to when I threw 40 on ftp, 5 hours later was sitting at 1750. Only to start drinking and lose like 700 after. But then again, even I stopped before plunging to zero.

I also watched a guy win 40gs playing blackjack only to lose it all back within 20 mins, Im thinking its degeneracy.. But the fact that he wasn't really sad? nor committed suicide after losing 40mill. I'd say he did well.

Re: Archie Karas the man who won $40 million then lost it all.

Honestly, if a man doesn't want to change, then he isn't an addict.

Psychologically, the true test for addiction is the desire to deviate from a behavior, but unable to do so. If this individual doesn't care about money and just wants to gamble... he is living a successful life. The fact is, we are only on this earth for a short period of time and its important to live your life to the "fullest" ... which is defined by you, and nobody else.

But honestly, I suspect he is an addict and just trying to save-face by pretending he doesn't care. Certainly, there are people in this world who don't care about money or even being a part of society. But, it isn't logical that individuals who don't care about money would gravitate towards gambling... unless they are sadistic and enjoy observing self-righteous individuals, who's own lives are enslaved by money, react in shock, jealously, and scorn at the notion someone could loose 40 million playing dice.

remind me of Chau Chiang, he ran from scratch to a 20 million dollar bankroll in 2 years, then lost it all playing craps and baccarat. He had to return to the 80/160 game to rebuild his bankroll and never looked back since.
