I don't know the lady, but it kinda tilts me that she's in all those commercials with not even one major tournament win. She has exactly one tournament cash on for more than $100,000 on her record, and the commercial is treating her like she's some kind of poker superstar. I don't get it. Why not put a poker pro like Barry Greenstein or Peter Eastgate in the commercial instead?

To me it's kinda like having Brian Scalibrine talk about NBA skills. Yeah, he's a professional player, but he's very bottom tier.

I don't know who Katja is but Vanessa Rousso has some wins uner her belt. Putting Isabelle Mercier in the same sentence as her is an insult to Vanessa imo.

This is the relevant point. I don't know what on earth Stars is thinking. There are plenty of people on 2+2 and on Stars who don't know who she is so I'm pretty sure the general public isn't going to have any idea now are they going to bother looking her up.

She is not famous. She has very little name recognition outside some fairly knowledgeable poker players who actually keep up with such things.

They don't necessarily imply that she's super-famous in the commercial though but they seem to come kind of close and I just imagine a bunch of viewers going, "huh? Who is this person?" which is pretty opposite the effect they get with the Negreneau spots since he's so recognizable and pretty well known.

Have you seen the aesthetic qualities of the rest of the Pokerstars Team? Just in case, here is a reminder, and I'll just name drop here:

Much love for these guys but Pokerstars is smart enough to know that they aren't going to grow their business making commercials aimed at the core poker audience. Mercier doesn't have the credentials but enough.....acknowledgment in the poker world that her commercials have some legitimacy. And she is just attractive enough. Besides, would you rather see that Isabelle practices ninjitsu and Vanessa bungie jumps in their lives outside of poker or the physical activities that Raymer does in his free time........bad visual, bad visual.

They kind of do imply that she's super-famous when they put her in a national commercial that seems to run whenever poker shows are on, and lots of times even when they aren't. I say this because they've got the label "Team PokerStars pro" beneath her name in the commercial. The target audience of these commercials is supposed to be 18-49 year old men, right? Well I don't see them depositing on PokerStars because of this commercial. If they're going to put a girl on the commercials who is rather unaccomplished in the poker world, then she needs to be supermodel quality attractiveness in my opinion to attract these guys to deposit.
