Yes, normally in live cash games the hand is live until it hits the muck. Don't show bluffs to your opponent when their hand is still live.

You either have no idea what an angleshot is or are trolling. Either way, please don't do that in this thread.

There's a beginner questions forum if you really want to ask.

An angleshoot would have been if he faked throwing his hand away to get his opponent to show his cards which is clearly not what happened. He threw his hand away because he thought his opponent had the best hand. However, when he saw the opponent did not have the best hand the appropriate decision is to retrieve the hand before it is dead and call.

Retrieving a live hand when you gain additional information is not an angle shoot. Like, if your opponent tables what you think is a straight and you throw your hand away but then realize that your opponent doesn't have a straight, are you just going to let your hand hit the muck or are you going to try to retrieve it while it is still live and flip over the winning hand? The latter is in no way an angle.

Dream crusher, please stop posting. This is either an outright angle or semi-angle on Maurice's part and it should never be encouraged. Yes, if you play correctly against it you can and should protect yourself, but this sort of behavior is terrible for poker and drives recs away.

I've never played with Maurice but I did take a liking to him, as I noted above. I tend to get processes right in tournament play and would not typically fall for this kind of move, but I would be highly displeased to see it in a professional and would then make it my business to slowroll them or otherwise try to set them off on tilt.

You are - I guess - confusing a situation where there is no river action, or a bet and a call, with this. This is a "fold" and thus it doesn't matter where his cards are to the muck. He has folded his hand and it's over. No diff than if he'd said "fold", kept cards in hand, and then said "call" after being shown the bluff.

That makes sense. Maurice must have misunderstood the rules and not realized that this action constituted a fold. Everyone makes mistakes, even top pros like Maurice. Looking at his tournament results it's hard to believe that he makes mistakes but he is still human. It's just that he commits mistakes at a far lower rate than you or I. The only thing you can do when you make a mistake is learn from it and move on.

I was planning on posting only what I've seen but going to add one of the stories I've heard multiple times because of this defense.

Heads up on river. Opponent bets. Maurice throws one card to the muck (not easily visible that he kept one). Opponent shows bluff. Maurice turns over his card and calls claiming the other card not needed.

He definitely knows how to get inside people's heads but it may be easy to do so when you're an angle shooter.

Wow Dream Crusher. Every time I see you post it's more and more embarrassing. Did you somehow skip over the part where Maurice lied to the floor and said his cards never moved even though the dealer and the entire table saw him push them forward? Does Maurice stake you or something? Where is your nonsense coming from?

And lol @ Russ Hamilton being one of the all-time poker greats. What has he done to deserve that title? Won a 268 player donkament back in 94? Cheated countless players out of millions online? I guess I see your point. RUSS GOAT!

Interesting. I use the 2+2 app, where they work fine. But now I've learned that they don't work using the browser, so I thank you for that.

See how easy that was? Now you can go to either the live poker forum or the beginner forum, learn about the rules for folding/mucking, then come back here and thank me. And then we can be best friends.

Please not the live poker forum. He'd get rapinied out of there in no time. The beginner forum would be a better place for him.

Sadly, I actually have stopped on this subject because the powers that be have silenced me. As always, I can be reached by PM and am always more than happy to impart my knowledge to fellow NVGers. Unfortunately, a lot of good information will go unsaid in this thread.

You're obviously a huge troll and people are going to be upset that I'm feeding you but here you go:

Dream Crusher, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
It wouldn't surprise me if Maurice's account is disabled from accessing this subforum as well which would explain his confusion in certain spots.
