If more poker players took that approach I suspect that we would have less threads about "Poker player ____ stole $X from me."

p.s.-- You should see how I take it if someone tries to steal more than six bucks from me.

people stealing or sharing are not very close.

libraries must be the axes of evil in ur mind..total scum...for lending books to people for a fee. which they dont even buy and return!

omg! how long has this cheating been going on?

Funny how a lot of the players on that list were seen as equals to Ivey in the mid 2000s. What a difference a few years make.

Borrowing a book from a Library (that bought the book from the publisher -- yes, they are bought unless donated by the publisher -- and paid a rate related to it being a Library that would lend it out) is different from some cheap SOB begging with a wink to grab a free copy of book rather than paying $6 or getting off his arse and going to a Library to find and borrow it.

If you don't see the difference you're a knob ... no disrespect

Hard cover too. And in great shape.

Not just that but the fact that being as smart as he is Beale may have worked out how 'badly' the pros were playing and worked out a way to exploit them. The book details his playing much more aggressively than the pros which we now know is better strategy HU limit holdem. So its probable that he was 'crushing' them but just ran bad or came up against Ivey who was just too smart / good.

Inspired by this thread, I dug out my copy and have started reading it again.

I just love this line....

How accurate you were, Mr Craig.

I remember when he played on the big game in 2010, Troy (douchy loose cannon) was talking about how he was the eye candy on the show and Antonino said "I thought Chau Chau was the eye candy."

I could never understand anything Chau said, but he seemed liked a funny guy because of it!

Ploughing all that dough into Poker Road can't have been a great investment either. I'm guessing that ate up a fair bit more than the money he lost in a single poker game.

Hard to see how he's not. He's an old-timer when it comes to bankroll management philosophy, he lacks business sense and yet gets himself tied up in business ventures, he likes placing big bets on sports, and he seems far too arrogant to realize when the game has passed him by. Even in the best of poker economies his financial situation would never be stable.

what would have happened if beal had decimated their bank rolls? do you think there would have been major collection problems? or had the pros each physically invested in the bankroll already?... i mean like doyle/chip actually physically supplying the money for the syndicate with the understanding that others are invested.
