most recent comments were in the form of tweets, staunchly denying the possibility of cheating...if not itt, then in the articles linked itt.

ofc cardplayer needs to worry about advertisers, not their respect but their money. i think we all know their income doesn't really come from subscriptions. with that said and not to derail to cardplayers business....they are not a news magazine and certainly don't need to take a side...not sure about .fr but i don't see an ISPT ad in their last couple issues when they seem to be everywhere else atm.

i'm sure FD.com will take a look and maybe even DF.com with full tilt story about written. the gpi stand def adds some credibility to the "just another 2+2 thread" discussion.

Sound strange to me. A pro doesn't look bother by the cheat and that nothing is done about it, but by the decision of GPI...

http://www.pokernews.com/news/2013/0...e-ra-14342.htm

I desagree with that. What ? Nothing has been done yet about this big (presumed) cheat, except in fact from the GPI.
Not to mention Pasqualini started (if no mistake) his career from this "victory"...

I'm just amazed to see how many people try to defend the presumed cheaters, or to minimize the problem, or to do nothing about it !

Max,

I for one am ok with the gpi suspension, if for no other reason then its one of the only ways to penalize this alleged cheat. People like Lederer, Duke, Hamilton, maybe Chino(still has time) should be barred from the HOF simply because they have done more to hurt the game than to help, well maybe the aforementioned shouldn't be in HOF but you get the point, NO Consequences! Ultimately, that is the worst that will happen to Clemons, Bonds, etc.....and Rose never bet while he played but still won't get in...at least not with this commish.

I can see Rich's point, and its not that they shouldn't penalized, he even mentions blackballed so he recognizes the issue. tbh it takes guts to write what he wrote but he believes it and feels that the GPI is formula based and there is no room for subjectivity. Also, we do have to keep in mind the motives for publicly suspending them and what the gpi/dreyfuss could decide to do in the future.

The gpi is great for poker and i do agree it should remain independent, but maybe just maybe you can argue that JPP, Rossi, and others wins were acquired through cheating and now we have a common ground.

sorry for the long post but i don't think Rich was defending or minimizing the severity, imo.

Well, i respect different opinion, like on the suspension.

I think though it's a good decision, since i can't see how cheaters should stay in any ranking, otherwise how those ranking could be accurate ?

About subjectivity, A. Dreyfus made it clear it's based on évidence, live at poker table, and nothing else. We can agree or not with that (like Lederer and such guys could be ranked), but it looks objective.

What i do not understand, is that this Pro, and writer, did not say the cheat was a big problem (or i missed it), nor proposed any solution ! Or did he somewhere else ?...
Not to mention pokernews did not a very good job to talk about this scandal...

If nothing else maybe this will or has prevented them from cheating players in the future.

Not looking good for Partouche as you can read in this CardPlayer article:

http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-news...ench-regulator

They are being investigated by ARJEL (a French Regulator).

So mandatory separate webcam on each player on final tables for any major live tournaments from now on?

Wouldn't cost much. Easy to implement.

i really don't think its necessary with a competent and diligent floor person(s) dedicated to fraud prevention....in addition depending on who gains access to that video, it could be highly beneficial to future opponents while detrimental to the recorded player(s) competitive advantage.

I read part of this thread, so some of my points have already been made. But I watched this in another thread and immediately started typing, so this is my reaction as soon as I saw the video, without knowing what anyone else said:

-------------

Wow, this is so obvious! I don't know who reported this, but it's hard to believe that the dealer or at least one player didn't notice it.

It should have been instantly obvious to any American. This is exactly what US baseball coaches to do send signals to batters or other players. They move their hands or touch their bodies in a complicated series of signals, such that only members of that team know which signal is the real one.

One more point. All good players know that you don't want any extraneous movement that might give off tells. Mike Caro talks about always putting chips in the pot with the same motion every time. Johnathan Little talks about sitting completely still for a ten-minute hand. What those players in France did is so contrary to those ideas that it should have been obvious to any professional player.

I have Attention Deficit Disorder, and if I stay perfectly still for more than a minute, I'm either asleep or dead. But my moving around and fidgeting is nothing compared to what those guys were doing. I don't understand how this wasn't caught before the money was handed out. I would have quietly alerted someone on the floor to watch, and to get as many casino cameras aimed at the players as possible.

The honest players, the dealer, the floor person, the casino, the TV crew and everyone else involved failed big time on this one. Mike Sexton, Norman Chad, or any other decent US commentator with poker experience (Chad has 2 WSOP cashes, one was a final table) would have smelled a rat way before the money was handed out.

You're right. I thought he was actually supposed to steal second base.

But seriously, you are correct and this is a good comparison that you make with baseball.
