I'd argue it was a YouTuber known as ssSuperSoak who asserted all of this.

Danny Analton's post sums up the Doug Polk video quite well. He outright says is was an honest mistake, and chooses rather to criticize Torelli for how he handled the effects of his mistake. Of course, Polk certain takes the opportunity to poke fun at Torelli (and/or Torelli's channel) in other ways: the sport coat/unbuttoned shirt attire, the "denim vest" getup, the mirrored aviators, the corny music and graphics, etc. But I agree with DA that Polk gave Torelli the benefit of the doubt (which was actually surprising to me when I first saw it):

On the other hand, Polk did straddle the fence later in a Twitter exchange with Negreanu. On the one hand, he said he's unsure if it was intentional, but then he also shared the ssSuperSoak video to argue the side that it was an angle shot:

Negreanu's rebuttal to the video is that it's not an angle because it's benign compared the trickery people pulled in his younger days.

Put aside the possibility that what was not considered an angle in the 1990s could be considered an angle in the 2010s, the point is Doug saw elements of both sides of the argument. There are those who will back anything he says as damn near gospel, and others who will instantly dismiss anything he has to say, but in this particular situation, I'd say Doug was pretty fair.

In front or on top of stack so they can be seen easily.
But Doug was relentless picking on Alec simply because he is jealous of Alec. Alec is a better poker player, has more money, and has better PUA skills.

Doubt he's better at HU and if you're talking about 6max or FR is that really that big of a deal?

I’m pretty sure anything Alex does he does better than Polk. All forms of poker. He catches more fish than Polk. Has bedded more 10/10 ladies than Polk. Has more money than Polk. Has more friends than Polk. Can hold his breath under water longer than Polk. List goes on.

Doug has made many references verbally and visually to Alec since the hidden chip. These are always in videos Doug is making regarding current cheating issues/scandals. He hasn't let that one incident die. That's why so many people remember it as if Alec were a repeated angler.

And if I recall correctly hasn't Doug even said that Torrelli should be kept off of big streams? All because of the one hidden chip? If you watch Doug's content regularly, he behaves with a vendetta.
Also a few months prior to Doug's video on angleshoot, Alec crushed him in a big hand at LATB which got lots of views. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gtlx6uQvdaU

Pretty sure that hand and him owning an opposing training site is the reason Doug carried on bullying him for 6 years about how he dresses, does yoga etc.

Alec soul read Doug. Alec soul reads lots of people. It’s one of the reasons why he is one of the greatest cash game crushers we’ve ever seen in our lifetime. I heard from a reliable source that one time Alec walked into Bobby’s room with a stack of chips and cash and a train of servants with him and Doyle, Chip, Ivey, and Negreanu got up and immediately left because they didn’t want Alec to clean them out. Eventually he had to start wearing disguises and stuff to play, otherwise they’d leave. They knew he took no prisoners.

You've got a good schtick. Please don't wear it out from overuse. ;-)

Yes, trolling is the number one reason people get banned from NVG. Of course, it is often difficult to determine if someone is trolling or just weird. In this case I am confident in my read.

I remember that pot being a lot bigger, surprised to see they were only 10k effective, thats like 10x smaller than the games today. I guess that was before the vlogger/streamer boom and before all the covid scam money hit the poker economy.

There needs to be a statute of limitations on some social things. If you declare bankruptcy it only effects your credit score for 7 years.

If you make a mistake but change yourself for the better, people should give you another chance. It's unfair to crucify someone for doing something so many years ago.

If they continue to **** up then by all means roast them, if not just leave the past be.

Slow down. Just having a little fun. But Doug did drag his trolling of Alec on way too long

I thought he played that badly. Wasn’t that toward the end of the day? He looked tired to me. I think fatigue played a role in him playing that hand badly.

Lmao Torelli saw the Carrel/Galfond vs Polk interactions and thought it was his time to slither back into the spotlight. Too bad even Carrell is somehow more likable than him. At least Alec can always count on HCL turning a blind eye to scumbags and offering him a soft seat in their game.

I personally find Torelli to be difficult to watch—he strikes me as a little self-involved and a lover of the spotlight—but that certainly doesn’t make him a bad person, and I agree that these characterizations of him as a scumbag are unfair and are driven largely by Polk’s attacks.
What did you think of Alec’s own video about the incident?

(FWIW I thought Polk’s video was as objective as one could be while still giving humorous/hilarious-in-some-parts content which of course is part of his objective. Also FWIW I thought AT having big chips behind was no accident. Just doesn’t happen unintentionally with seasoned pros. I mean do you ever see this in your regular games? I play low stakes and literally only see it with newbies.)

This is fine for mistakes. Seems you judge it a mistake and not intentional. For the sake of argument, what if it were intentional? Same rules?
