3 days later on June 6 Torelli tweets: "I will be responding to the statements made by @DougPolkPoker shortly. I apologize for the delay but I promise it will be worth the wait."

...Over 2 weeks now since that. Man that is going to be one hell of a response video if it's worth this kind of wait.

Been waiting to hear this myself, two weeks is rather long for "shortly". Beginning to wonder if he's actually enjoying the spotlight this incident has placed him in (even if in a negative light) so is trying to draw it out by promising a response and then letting people wait, building up the suspense, to get himself some more attention (probably his youtube videos are getting way more views than they normally would simply because his name is in the news recently).

Just a random theory of course but perhaps that makes more sense than publicly promising to respond "shortly" and then doing nothing of the sort.

You could take it a step further, and ask him for a count on each subsequent hand. Inevitably, he'll ask why you're asking, as it shouldn't have changed much, or should be easy to figure out. "Just want to make sure you haven't gone north since the last time I asked."

For bonus points, do it on every street. Preflop raise. "How much you got?" Call. Flop comes king high, rainbow. Alec bets. "How much you got now?" Call. Turn. Alec checks. "How much you got now?" You bet. Alec calls. Go to the river. "How much you got now?"

In reality, though, most people at the table will have no knowledge of this incident and will simply think you're being weird. So yeah, probably need to save this for a televised game.

Personally, I hope Torelli from now plays against opponents who hide their big chips from him, smuggle extra ones onto the table, then tell the dealer that Torelli misread their stack, after reflectively fake apologetically musing they have to let the bet stand.

Who then say they will reply shortly to the accusations about this cheating when called out on it.

But don't.

I wonder if he would think this is fair enough from them.

What I still don't get is his "I'm left handed" defense.

His large denomination chips were placed on the RIGHT side of his towers. He's was sitting in s3 and the chips were conveniently hidden from most of the table, including Wolf and Tilly who were in s5 and s6 and happened to be the 2 largest stacks at the table.

Seems like he used his right hand to smuggle those 5k chips on to the table and kept them on the right side.



Anyhow, in all future interactions with Torelli, one should tell Torelli "I'm left handed" if anything is said or done to offend him .

Alec says to "lift up your arm" so they can see your chips and don't answer verbally. What if they still can't see your large denomination chips after you lift up your arms???

Doug Polk is more entertaining personality and better looking but Torelli is the superior poker mind.

Surprised he lacks a lot of top results in tourney the way he plays always optimal. He must be a top cash specialist in the Booby Room in Vegas with Ivey and Antonius.

I'm trying to think of what strat/response I would take if I was in his position (esp because he has so much to lose with his name being his brand) and I've yet to think of good PR move.

Because he has a large youtube platform staying silent isn't really an option (his vids will get trolled until the end of time and cause further damage), but coming forward with a formal response will also drive more attention to it as well. I'm not surprised he hasn't responded yet, super tough spot to come out of without much damage.

He's in a lose-lose situation. It's more about minimizing damage rather then preventing it at this point. Oh and ofc he put himself in this spot, I'm not sympathizing for him, just stating that its an interesting/tough spot and makes sense for him to be struggling to come up with a feasible solution.

My guess is he'll ultimately come out with some variation of an apology and admit some level of fault while downplaying the severity of the situation, and possibly offer Wolf the 10k back.
