Re: absolute poker balances?

Poker sites should take/sell insurance on balances from third parties.

It would be a very profitable business.

Look at France, they can sell bond with negative interest rates so why not balance insurance.

Re: absolute poker balances?

The insurance premium would be too high to ensure safety on the sites that truly need it.

Imagine the rake Microgaming would have to charge to cover insurance premiums. Is it up to two or three skins in 2012 that have gone under there now?

Re: absolute poker balances?

How about the dollars that were paid out to the European customers and celebrity players? Hellmuth and Duke do not appear to be too hard to locate.

What effort has the DOJ made in clawing back these dollars?

The April 15th shut down put Cereus into de facto bankruptcy and payments going back in time could be reclaimed as preference items.

Hellmuth and Duke were not owners (as far as we know).

Annie Duke and Phil Gordon developed the software. Phil Gordon is not getting enough blame imo. He distanced himself long ago for whatever reason, I believe he knows things critical to the case, but did not knowingly do anything bad.

Annie Duke is more likely to be behind the superuser scandal than Russ Hamilton. Anyone who propped for UB would understand why. Thomas Kellar and his brother chicknlittle also know far more than they are leading on like Gordon, and they have been suspected as superusers. They need to fully disclose everything in order to ever be trusted on this. That seems doubtful.

I would pin the conspiracy on Annie Duke with Russ Hamilton as the secondary partner if I had one guess.

Too much is relative. You can get a rider on some insurance policies for such risk. It's always up to the player.

In a bankruptcy payments to insiders can be ordered to be returned to the estate.

These parties along with management fall under these rules.

The DOJ order was a defacto forced bankruptcy.

Payments that were made to players in the prior 6 months to the DOJ action could also be clawed back under the preference authority.

This would also apply to all payments made to non US players after April 15th.

I don't know where you are but We were still playing until near the beginning of October before they stopped offering their real money tournaments. Then for about 2 weeks it was a .02/ 04 cash table that ran for a couple of weeks after that.
50.00 freeroll disappeared along with the play chip tournaments the same day. I emailed support to see what was happening and got a reply back saying we are aware of the glitch in our system and are working on getting it fixed. I knew then they were on the old iron lung with not much time left.

Now AP is completely deceased you can't even connect to the website and haven't been able to for months.

Re: absolute poker balances?

Perhaps there are some government programs where we can apply for redemptions?

Duke was not a founder but became an owner before the IPO. Hellmuth was an original founder and his ownership situation is similar to what people thought of Lederer/Ferguson, et al prior to legal disclosures. fwiw, I don't believe he has ever publicly denied being an owner, and there is little reason to confirm it. But there is plenty of evidence, online and off.
