RICO.
Russ, if some young hotshot in the DOJ really wanted to make a name for himself/herself, YOU ARE DEAD.
Wire transfer fraud, mail fraud, money laundering and theft, if you prove any 2 of these, you can group it into a RICO INDICTMENT.
Good luck thief.

LMAO. Isn't likely to happen? Why in the hell not? Please be objective and seperate what you don't like hearing from what the real issue is. An unregulated environment worth billions of dollars is ripe for corruption. Put insane amounts of money in front of a human being, and the temptation will be there, regardless of which company logo is on his paycheck.
And half you clowns that are mad at the closing comments sit here and moan endlessly about multi-accounts and bots on FTP and Stars (and how nothing gets done about it), and then act like cheating could never possibly happen there.

Re: 60 Minutes Poker story this Sunday!
I wish everyone would have just a little perspective here. Remember when the pictures of Steve Croft at the WSOP first surfaced? Everyone thought the piece was going to be a huge hatchet job on how online poker is illegal and look at all the shady goings on behind the scenes.
I was very happy that the general slant of the story was "look at what a great job these players did at exposing the cheaters".
Yes there were some cringe moments such as "online poker is illegal" and Todd's comment at the end (which is not that outlandish of a statement imho), but overall they made UB, AP, Joe Norton, and Russ Hamilton look like the biggest douchbags of the bunch.
The one glaring omission I expected to see was an interview with everyone's favorite gay senator, Barney Frank. Maybe he'll get some love in the Washington Post's follow up piece tomorrow.

True and Todds statement was the worst part of the story. His comments hurt the most more than anything in the story. He should be the one that is blamed for being irresponsible

Re: 60 Minutes Poker story this Sunday!
How awesome would it be if one of Michael Phelp's endorsement deal would have been an online poker site? Find the Poker Star in you, indeed!
Actually, he seems more of a Bodog kind of guy. He reminds me a lot of David Williams in the way he speaks and some facial expressions.

Re: 60 Minutes Poker story this Sunday!
The fact is it can and will probably happen at other sites. There is high reward and little risk at stealing at any site. If someone can make millions instead of there regular salary without the threat of any reprisal at all then more people will be tempted to do it.

Re: 60 Minutes Poker story this Sunday!
Now we have to do some damage control. What would be the best way to get the masses informed that AP and UB were an isolated incident and got punished for it?
Oh man, biased reporters who wear an unbiased disguise tilt me so ****ing hard

Dan Druff couldn't help his fat, gibbering face from opening up and missing an opportunity for everyone to think he's a smart person. Earth to Druff, there are people 99% more eloquent than you with better ideas, you don't need to be an egotistical maniac every time you publicly speak.

That is sorely lacking right now.
The sites are the judge, jury, and executioners in all matters relating to game integrity and your money. I don't know if it scares you, but it doesn't sit well at all with me.
Even if it's not legalized, the online poker industry has a long way to go to improve this.
Otherwise, it's just a matter of time until the next scandal.
Furthermore, I find it highly unlikely that the US government will make it illegal to play online poker. This has not even been attempted yet. All attempts have been to cut off the flow of money, but not to criminalize the act itself for the player. There are many reasons that this won't happen.
|
heh, i even made a pole about this like 3 years ago. everyone laughed at me.
as for the second bolded, well, the government is already saying it is illegal. im not sure if it is. i mean, im not sure who to believe: the internet monkeys in the legislation forum swearing right and left its not illegal, or, ya know, every major and minor publication that reports on online poker going by the advisemnt on the goddamn DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE.
heres what i think. poker players are duped by sites all the time.
and they are duped by their peers who insist they are looking out for poker interests. bs.
and just to make it perfectly clear, yes i believe online poker is illegal in the usa at this point.

OKAY, I did kinda word this badly. What I was trying to say was it was LESS likely to happen at a site like FTP/Stars rather than other smaller sites. Which leads me onto the question.. why did they keep filming someone playing on FTP? this cant have been the brightest idea since its a documentary about a cheating scandal!?!
But I do agree with everything you said (above quote) just worded it terribly.

Oh yeah, let's blame Todd and give Hamilton and his bunch at UB and AP a thumbs up. The man got cheated out of money, and told his story, and gave his opinion. SO WHAT? You are so focused on a grain of sand that you can't see the beach.

Re: 60 Minutes Poker story this Sunday!
NVG screenshot and not too subtle fat dig at Russ were awesome ("his considerable weight in silver..." LoL). Although, they made it look like CBS really beat the bushes down to get a hold of Russ ("we left a message...and our call was not returned"). WTF did you think would happen? He'd call back the next day and want to talk all about it?
The continuous mention that online poker is illegal in the US was obv. biased crap as was Druff playing the scare card at the end. I do wonder if that end line was part of a longer quote and that's the part CBS used.
