One visited in March, another visited in April.

Not a good look for those staying there for the series.

The disinfection or “remediation” process will happen again Friday night and possibly Saturday night, Bergtholdt said. The process will include every room in one specific Rio tower, Bergtholdt added, though the hotel on Friday declined to specify which tower.
Do you feel lucky?

I feel less lucky knowing that they changed us from one room to another 4 days ago because of a water contamination issue...and then they changed us again from that room to another new room tonight. This is troublesome for obvious reasons. Did this happen to any of you out there as well?

What tower are you staying? Ipanema or Masquerade?

Not to panic but the Rio has a Chiller system of air conditioner which uses water for its effect. Droplets of water get into the air and will be breathed in; hopefully they know enough to add mucho chlorine into this system. Also the water should be above and below specific temperatures.

From what I understand, the contagion doesn't spread by ingestion( except if one coughs and gets the water down the wrong tube) but precautions should still be taken; meaning, use bottled water when you brush your teeth, but not necessarily so.

In Ipanema, on the 19th floor. Then changed to another room on the 19th floor. Then changed to a room on the 20th floor. You?

Tried to check in last night and was sent to the Flamingo. So was everyone else checking in. The bad news, it was very inconvenient and a pain and it sucks that I'm so far away from the WSOP, the good news is that my room for the next two nights is free..

I'm coming in tomorrow, Sunday. I was hoping it was Masquerade with the problem as I always stay in Ipanema since it's closer to WSOP.

RIO is such a dump, worse than hotels in some third world hellhole. Legionnaire's through the water system? Are you kidding me? How is this property not condemned and torn down lol?!

No wonder Caesars has been trying to sell this property for years with no takers.

Oh, and from the CDC Website, just great:

About 1 out of every 10 people who get sick with Legionnaires’ disease will die due to complications from their illness.[1] For those who get Legionnaires’ disease during a stay in a healthcare facility, about 1 out of every 4 will die.

If you are worried: When you arrive, just let the shower run (hot) for a few minutes first and don't inhale the haze. Same for when you wat to use the tap

If you are healthy there is not much to worry about.

my understanding is that both of the infections happened in the same tower at ipanema, and that tower was the one to get cleared first. then they cleared the other ipanema towers in succession, which is happening this weekend, just to be safe and whatnot.

the notifications to residents only started coming once the news release happened, which is a little troubling.

the good news anyone of normal health if they spot the symptoms early on then its easy to recover with antibiotics.

the trouble is the wsop vegas aids is definitely a thing, so this is gonna bait out the hypochondriac in everyone when they first get that cough (standard wsop vegas aids) and think they have legionnaires disease, so they have to waste time taking that bacterial test.

just take a cold shower instead. or dont bathe at all.

extra chlorine in the water means inhaling more chlorine.

drinking the water will not get you legionaires disease, only inhaling vaporized water droplets, ie breathing in steam from a hot bath or shower or from the sink. take cold showers just in case. i wouldn't risk 1/10 chance of death....

I particularly like the three ???, to stress that your takeaway from this piece of news is that you might not be able to get INTO the Rio to stay.

" ......the property tested its water system, and the results came back positive for Legionella bacteria, "

Anyone else booked into the Rio, who is not trying to catch a possibly fatal disease, might want consider a different accommodation, like the Gold Coast, right across the street

Why would anyone stay in that dump? They hold a big poker series there for years but don't do any renovations in the rooms forever. I think we stayed there 10 years ago and it was not great then.
