Lol that's the exact thing that came to mind when I first read about this.

The timeline of the wsop and the events (pretty complex) leads me to believe that he *may* have (I have no real proof except secondhand accounts that he was playing a huge limit holdem game at Bellagio) blown everyone's funds in the big game. The more I think about it, the more it starts making more sense to me...

Note: I have nothing really to substanciate this, but these are just suspicions that I have floating around.

What I will say, is that when stories start making sense in your head, there's usually a pretty damn good reason.

Presuming the facts are really as you presented them, I hope you nail Cornell Fiji to the wall (and I feel really, really weird saying that name in this context, given the work he did on the UB thing and the general image he presented which I and everyone else bought in to)

ive also talked a bit with admo about taking neverwin to court and he even referred me to a lawyer that i didnt use because im not in san diego...pretty sure hes serious about taking this to court

2+2 Moderator Steven Ware (Cornell Fiji) stole $30,000 from me. To date he has not paid any of it back.

Story
3-4 weeks ago I responded to Steve's post to trade his cash for online. He said that he had several offers but that he wanted to trade with me "because he knew he wouldn't get ripped off". I offered to fly back to Vegas to do the trade, since he was offering cash at no vig and I needed to pick up my ME tourney cash anyway. He said that wouldn't be necessary-- he could deposit directly into my bank account, so I offered to send first since he seemed like a stand-up guy. I send $30,000 to his FTP account (TheMatadorKGB); he didn't reciprocate. He said that he didn't leave his room all day and that he'd deposit in the morning. Then he disappears for two days, ignoring PMs and text msgs. On the third day leaves a message on my cell saying "well I'm sure you probably guessed what happened..."

He PM'd saying that he's a complete ******* and degenerate and that he blew the $30K at Bellagio. Promised to make good as soon as he got back to New Jersey in a day or two. Disappears for another 2 days. I tell him to send the $30K back via FTP immediately. He says he can't b/c he lost it to "Boosted's luckbox."

Mostly he ignores my PMs asking him what he's doing to repay. When he does respond, he has said that he would:

(i) Borrow from friends
(ii) Borrow from family
(iii) Sell everything he owns
(iv) Repay via advance from his upcoming book
(v) Repay in a month and a half when he can sell some stock

He tells me he's "doing everything he can" but hasn't paid back anything, not even some small good faith amount, despite there being a branch of my bank literally within walking distance from his house.

What has Steve done since he ripped me off on July 15th?

What now?
I set up a reasonable $2.5K/week payment plan. The deadline for the first payment was yesterday, which I extended to today because he PM'd that he was getting a loan from his brother-in-law. He said he'd be in touch today to tell me what happened either way. Banks just closed on the East Coast and there is no deposit from Steve. Unsurprisingly, he hasn't PM'd or texted all day.

I have told him more than once that I will not allow him to steal from my family. My hope is that making this public will expediate the repayment process, but either way I am confident that I will recover the money. (plus any money I spend recovering the money) I've held off saying anything or filing a police report because I don't need to ruin the guy's life for something stupid that he did. But we've come to the point where he's taken advantage of my goodwill.

In the end, I honestly don't think that Steve is a bad guy. He's a (self-admitted) degenerate gambler who made a pretty terrible decision. However, he continues to compound the problem by avoiding contact with me and burying his head in the sand. He asked me not to out him on 2+2, but has promised to pay back what he took regardless of whether or not I do which is sort of honorable(?)

Steve-- in a short while I'm going to involve both the authorities and my attorneys. In my letter I laid out exactly what this will mean for you; I'd urge you to avoid it at all costs.

If Steven ignores this advice, I invite everyone to follow along...

Umm, not to be too much of a nit, but the title of the thread is totally misleading. This was not a "loan" this was a fraudulent exchange. It turned into a loan after admo graciously allowed CF to change the outright theft into a "loan" with repayments.

Title: "Cornell Fiji steals $30,000 from Admo - cover up fails!"***

This thread explains why outta the blue the other day I got a 2+2 warning from no other than CF about a post I made 2 weeks earlier which was the nittiest bull**** of a warning I ever got in my life (parents included). **** that guy tryin to take out his 30K debt on quaolity posters like myself.

Ok as many people know, me, JPOSU, Broberts, Luie Sojo, Augie, Superfluous Man, and EC10 pooled money together to stake Cornell Fiji in the amount of 50k total for the series. As the series went further, there were some shady things (playing in a 300-600 lhe game and Bobby's room at Bellagio, no contact for 2 days b/c of being "sick," being 15k deep in the 1500 plo rebuy after he had specific instructions of not going past 9k, trying to get permission to play the Bellagio Cup after he already entered) going on. Although I had not put two and two together, my impression was that although he told me he wasn't using stake money and was getting backed elsewhere for these games, that this may not be the case.

He claims to have made money playing high stakes plo, the lhe game, and in Bobby's room, but this I am starting to doubt. I am also doubting that he didn't use stake money, and that the money that he possibly lost was our money.

He did not keep an meeting time with JPOSU to return stake money associated with the WSOP. I did physically see Steve to return the money for EC10, Augie, myself, Broberts, and Luie Sojo. These guys can attest that they got their original investments returned through me. I do not know about Leo or Jason, and they can come forth with whatever info they have.

If there are any other questions about this, I will do my best to answer them with what I know, but I also have a lot of unanswered questions.
