It'd be hard to argue that the feds haven't loved the status quo. All you have to do is look at the history. The feds have seized 100's of millions of dollars mostly uncontested. Now that some ARE in custody, related to Black Friday, the DOJ continues to let them off almost scot free, while of course keeping whatever money they have already gathered and probably assessing a monetary fine.
Here's just a couple of the big fish that were in the BF indictments and their prosecutions:
John Campos: was
charged with 6 Felonies and could have done 30 years, but accepted an offered plea to
a single misdemeanor with a maximum of 6 months and likely will do 3, if any at all. It's so bad the judge "did not readily accept it." and said " “
You’re basically walking away from the prosecution?” and then proceeded to remind all parties that he has the right to reject any plea brought before the court." here's an article on that

Chad Ellie: "
entered a guilty plea to one charge of conspiracy to commit bank fraud settling the criminal case against him. He agreed to accept a sentence of 6-12 months in prison, and forfeit $ 500,000. If he were to be found guilty of all charges at trial, violations of UIGEA and IGBA, conspiracy to commit bank fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and money laundering conspiracy, potential maximum penalties exceeded 50 years and forfeitures probably in the tens of millions of dollars." Here's an article on the "
Ramifications of the Trial That Never Took Place"
Brent Beckley: has actually received the harshest sentence so far and it's mostly because the judge is sick of the Gov bringing these cases forth yet not following through, he gave Beckley more jail time than was requested (by Preet et;al, who actually argued for leniency on BB's behalf even after the plea deal) because as he said: "U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan said Beckley deserved prison time despite his surrender and cooperation because "
the sentence has to make clear that the government of the United States means business in these types of cases." Article here
