re: $1,000,000 The Big One for ONEDROP, (FAQ in First Post)

That's the worst payout structure i've seen. Surely pros will complain?

One of the businessmen to root for is John Morgan. If he cashes, 10% of his winnings goes into the prize pool of a $130 tournament at Canterbury Park in October.

Seems like that could lead to a riot or something if he wins. $1.8mil added $130 tourney? I can't even imagine the outcome of something like that being offered.

3rd - 6,000,000
4th - 4,000,000
5th - 2,900,000
6th - 1,600,000

6th to 5th is $1.3mil jump. 5th to 4th is $1.1mil jump. Usually the pay jumps go up or stay the same as you progress through the final table, although on Merge they often don't since their payout structures were created by a drunken toddler imo.

So that's $16M of dead money to be spread between the other 32 players.

No wonder all the top players are trying so hard to get in on this... those 16 guys practically have almost no chance of winning and the other 32 players pretty much gets $500,000 in return for buying in $1M.
Have you played a poker tournament before?

What odds will you give me that one the "dead money" wins?

Is there a reason why the payout structure is absolutely terrible?

Forgot to note in the Canterbury Park tournament: The field is capped at 750 players, 250 per flight.

You're right, what I should have put was something more like:
1st - 18,000,000
2nd - 10,000,000
3rd - 6,000,000
4th - 4,000,000
5th - 2,800,000
6th - 1,700,000

Wanted to keep 1st at 18,000,000 with a huge pay bump between 1-2 & 2-3

I read somewhere that the 1st prize money will be the most ever paid out for a sport/game apart from individual boxing purses.

So I assume they are doing that to create more headlines from the non poker media to help promote poker and the one drop charity.

I'm pretty certain 1-3 will be making a deal unless it's 3 buisnessmen.

Hmm, I can's seem to find Chan, antonius and Hansen on the list of participants, but they are on the picture.
