Why is Mason Malmuth so hated in the poker industry? - Page 9 - Poker News

Only scanned the thread myself, but the times I've heard MM interviewed he came off very snarky, even when Mike and Adam interviewed him on the 2+2 pokercast. Lighten up a little, dude.

Sklansky seems a little full of himself, too.

So skills (or lack thereof) at giving interviews trump accomplishments in publishing and poker education?

They both seem to suffer (probably unknowingly) from Norman Mailer Complex. Non-redemptive personal lives that produce some first class literary classics. Norman Mailer produced some wonderful novels (and a plethura of egocentric trash) while chewing through eight wives and effing virtually every friend he had in the world throughout his hermitic life. In hindsight, they aren't so bad if all you can say about them is that they glare at you at gatherings and give really awful interviews.

The question was why is he so hated in the poker industry. Anyone who comes off like an a-hole in public is inviting hate. That's all.

He's also published reviews in the Books and Publications forum that may not appear in the two cited resources. Those reviews published after Gambling Theory and before the magazine started can be found in the archives. It's possible that he adds them to Gambling Theory when there's a new addition. I'm not sure as my copy might be as old as some of the posters on 2+2.

People hate Mason? I find that hard to believe. He'll never be Mr. Congeniality, but abject hate? Naah.

Semi-grunching. From what I've seen of MM's posts here, it seems he does attempt to be cordial and reasonable (almost in a robot customer-service type way). However, I've seen David Sklansky say some pretty mean stuff to people
