The worst play you ever made! The worst play you ever made!

Forget about all the bad beat stories, who is willing to tell on themselves with the worst play they ever made. Here's mine!

I was playing in the $1,000 Rebuy event at the WSOP about three years ago. There were something like 1,600 players in it and a very healthy purse (over $3,000,000 I believe). They were paying something like 162 spots and last place was something like four thou. At my table was Phil Gordon who re-bought over twenty times. I managed to make it through the rebuy period on my initial buy in. A big overlay for me.

I was short stacked all the way and we were down to about 250 players. I had something like 6,000 in chips and the blinds were maybe three and six hundred. I hadn't picked up hand in eons. And the table was playing super tight too. I'm on the button and look down to find a beautiful pair of Kings! The under the gun player (Tony Nasr aka TNT) raises to 1,800. Usually he might get one or two calls at this table, if that. One by one players agonized over their cards and called. It was amazing. Maybe five or six players were in when it got to me, so I pushed.

Once again, one by one and very slowly, all six players called. It was a monster pot. I must have lost my mind because after the last guy called I turned over my cards! Yes, I turned over the two Kings face up. Talk about being in a fog. The dealer called the floor man over and asked for a ruling. He said my hand will play but remains face up. The flop came Queen high. Tony bet out 2,000 into this monster pot, a very weak bet. One by one players folded to John Spadavecchia. He thought a while and called. A six came on the turn and Tony checked. John pushed his last chips all in and Tony thought a while and folded (showing A,Q).

John turned over two 6's to make a set and take the pot. He went on to finish fourth or fifth in the tourney and win over 160K. Now think about it. If I don't turn my cards over, Tony makes a bigger bet on the flop and everyone folds. I win the main pot! Maybe then it's me at the final table. Almost definitely I would have made the money from there. That is the donkey play of my life! I was sick for days after that.

The biggest cash pot I ever won. I'm not 100% on the details, but im going to do my best, was like 5 years ago when i was a busto degen.

I am dealt KK on the button @ 5/10 NLHE.

Folds to me with KK and 3230$ in my stack. i raise to 30$. The SB and BB both come along.

Flop: Kd 6d 7h

The SB and BB both check and like the pimp that I am I check it back because I have just flopped a set and it is mandatory that i slowplay it on all boards.

Turn: 5d

omgfmlhowdoirunsobadihatemylife

SB checks, BB bets 90$ into 90$. I call and sb folds. BB has ~2k behind.

River 6c

yesomgiamsogoodatpokeromgomg

BB bets 150$. I move all in for 3k. BB agonizes forever and calls with....55.

my favorite example of a hand played in one of the awfulest ways possible, yet its the only way im getting the stack. holla 4 lucksacks

I was playing a cash game at a private game once. Before the flop it gets raised all in for like 2k and the dude in the cutoff goes in the take for no joke about 5 minutes. Folds Aces face up and says "I don't feel lucky right now.'

We were all kinda speechless.

Playing one of the Venetian Deepstack tourneys in June. The only >$100 buyin NL tourney I've ever played, I'm not a big NLHE guy but I was in Vegas and the structures were awesome.

We started with a pile of chips (8k or 10k or something), and after a the first few hours I had been up and down and was now at about 12k. Blinds were still only 100-200.

I was in seat 1, in seat 6 was an older European guy (wearing a WSOP Bracelet) who was probably the most aggressive player I've ever played against. He had been pushing the whole table around, pointing to his cards and saying "I have a big hand" every time somebody was in the tank against him, etc etc. He had accumulated 25k-30k in chips, thanks in big part to a KK>AA situation he was in early where he rivered a K against the other big stack player.

He had definitely pinpointed my side of the table as one that could be pushed around, and any early position raise on our side of the table was met with a re-raise by him, every time. Before the previous break, I had laid down 99 when I made a small (2xbb) raise UTG and he came over the top for a bunch more.

Anyway, I pick up AKs under the gun. I put out the weak 2bb bet (400), praying like hell that he would make another move on me. This time, seat 5 comes over the top and makes it 1000. I figure my trap on seat 6 was not going to happen until, sure enough, he comes over the top of that, and makes it 2400 total. It's folded around to me, and even though it was a three-bet, he was SO loose that I knew he was capable of doing that with a lot of pretty weak holdings.

I think about it for a second, and decide to put in a pretty big raise, like 4000 more. Enough that I had enough left that he would fold to a shove on the flop (which I was planning to do almost no matter what came). I had been playing so passive against him that I was sure I could get credit for AA KK QQ etc from him and he might lay down a good amount of hands post-flop even if I was behind.

Anyway, I was so focused on figuring the bet size that I say (out loud), "I call your 2400, and raise 4k more". DURRRRRRR... of course the dealer immediately says "that's a call", and gives me my 4k back. I think my show of aggression scared Seat 5, and he actually laid it down even though he had really good odds to call another 1000.

Remember, because we only put 2400 in, I still had a little less than 10k left in my stack, which was more than comfortable for that structure. So, I was much less pot committed than if I had made my 4k raise and been called.

The flop comes J high with two hearts. I insta-shove my last 9k into the pot half out of frustration and half because I still think I showed so much aggression that he would lay down most hands. Of course, he insta-calls, and turns over J9 of hearts (yes, he 3 bet preflop with that), I get up drawing dead to 4 outs, the turn is a heart and that's that.

Not a hall-of-fame bad move but that string bet was pretty rookie of me.

I flop the nut straight in limped pot. I bet the size of the pot and get 1 caller.

Still the nuts on the turn and I bet big, opponent calls.

I still have the nuts on the river. I bet out, opponent moves all in, I fold.

Multi-tabling

Forgot what I had in a PLO hand and didn't re-check my cards. Thought I had a straight, but I called an allin with bottom pair only. Felt pretty stupid after that one and I left immediately. Would've been an easy fold with the straight I had, but nope. Here, have some free ****** $.

I did that today. Notorious calling station called a raise preflop with Q9o ... flop comes Qs 8s 2d. He leads out betting (which he does with any top pair hand, no matter how weak the kicker is or texture of the board).

I decide that I will insta-call every bet he makes (I had a pair of 8s at that point), and if a scare card comes, bet big. Sure enough the 3rd spade comes on the river... I lead out big, and says "Aw man, you did it, you caught the spades. I call"

And I muck and mutter under my breath. My fault... do not try to bluff the calling station... ever.

I was new to Omaha and was playing it in a casino for only like the second time in my life. I have an Ace in my hand and the board comes AAA. 1 guy bets I call and everyone else folds. On the turn he checks I bet he C/Rs and we cap the pot. On the river it is capped again. He turns over pocket kings and the dealer annouces aces full. Then somehow, I convinced myself that I had to play 3 card from my hand and two from the broad and that I only have 3 of a kind and fold my hand. Someone then says to the guy, he must have been scared when I was raising that I had the other A, I immediately realize how stupid I was and rack up my chips and leave. I have not played omaha in a casino since.

I doubt that one will be topped.

I was playing 3-6-12 LHE in Louisiana, looked down at my cards in the BB with J8 offsuit and just check the option.

Flop comes 9c-Tc-Qs...sweet I have a straight, I bet and get one caller. Turn is 6c...I bet he calls. River is the Jc...and he bets out.

I think for about 3 or 4 minutes and call...I had the 8c for the straight flush and he had the Ac..I never checked my cards again (i had read that only donkey's double check...) after flopping the straight...blaaah.

Since the game was live once you're headsup there is no limit on the betting rounds...cost myself a big ass pot...but I did win a free green hat.
