As we have a new event with the introduction of this poker bill, let's go ahead and own these pages for the weekend :
* Thanks Sajeffe for putting this list together
Recurring actions:

Let's continue to own a lot of Facebook pages (senators, Congressmen, Congressional committees, etc.). Rep. Barton has cited our Facebook posts, so we know it works.

  • The House Financial Services Committee's Facebook page is here.
  • Let's get some posts on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce page (here)
  • The Dept. of Justice's page is here.
  • Senators' FB pages: Senator Facebook Listing.
  • We need lots of "liking" of pro-poker comments.
Let's also all send the PPA pre-written letters to our lawmakers. These will be updated on Monday, so let's all get the current letters out before that. Once done, please reply ITT with "done", "sent", etc. to encourage others. Thanks!

Take Action Now and Contact your Lawmaker

Click Buttons to Send Letters in less than 60 seconds:

Finally, let's recruit others. Our personal recommendations of this effort will go far. The daily action plan takes very little time and there's no denying it's way +EV for the time invested. Once done, please post here that you made the request, along with posting your personal commitment to participate in the action plan. I created a short URL for this thread that should help with sharing: http://******/takeaction

Thanks!
Personally I thought it was better to isolate and bombard just a handful of congressmen at a time like we did earlier in the week. This huge list is overwhelming. Just a thought.

This is a three day action, so I think we can get them.

I will split these into more manageable groups shortly.

Very pro-poker article here:
“I wanna hold em’ like they do in Texas please.” Too bad. Government said no.

Got today's list done. Took me about 40 min to make my own post and "like" other's posts.

Lots of people seem to be doing it, but we always can use more. Get this done.

I'm on a facebook break -- imposed by facebook. Could be hours or days. They say I "like" too many things and therefore I'm annoying. LOL.

Moral of my story is, you have to slow down your liking pace a litte. I had been doing really well, but apparently, I started going too fast.

Good job guys! Facebook is lit up like a damned Christmas tree.

One small issue: in cases where the person doesn't have open Facebook posting, let's be careful to not post in threads where it is totally inappropriate. A prime example is this one:

https://www.facebook.com/Congressman...94876827230447

John Barrow makes a post announcing that he is going in for prostate cancer treatment, and there are a bunch of cut/paste poker comments in the responses. That doesn't look good.

When I went through his post, I was actually impressed that we were kind to him and also made our point. Unless there have been more added since then, I thought we'd done a good job wishing him all the best.

But you are right -- read before you post!

A good number of them wish him well and then ask for his support, which is not too bad. But we don't want non-poker people to see that and get the wrong impression of us. Our poker problem is nothing when compared to cancer.

Overall, though, nice work fellas!

THE CURRENT HURDLE
Members of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce: (The ones with an x in front of their names means they don't have open posting. Just respond to a post already on the page -- but BE SENSITIVE ABOUT IT -- don't post inappropriately.)

I've updated this a litte. I added three facebook pages that I couldn't find before (Pitts, Latta, and I can't remember who else).

Also, I've put FOR or AGAINST or UNDECIDED or UNKNOWN with each name. This status refers to how they stood on H.R. 1174, so will likely reflect how they feel on H.R. 2366.

Please copy and paste this info to other threads as appropriate.

I got this in the mail from Bobby Jindal's office:

"Thank you for contacting the Governor's Office regarding Online Poker.

We take your thoughts and concerns very seriously, and appreciate you sharing your suggestions to better our state. We are working hard every day to improve the future of our state, and ensure that Louisiana remains the best place in the world to get a quality education, pursue a rewarding career, and raise a family.

Please continue to share your thoughts with the Governor, and do not hesitate to contact our office with future concerns you may have."

At the very least I think Bobby Jindal would hear both sides before considering voting to opt out. State legislators are another thing though. Religious right and other gambling interests control the money around here, so I could see an opt out bill reaching Jindal.

The FOR/AGAINST/UNDECIDED/UNKNOWN after each name is based on H.R.1174 which was an internet gambling law, not specific to poker, so don’t assume they still feel the same. Having said that, I think we should particularly work on the undecided folks and convince them to side with us.

An “x” in front of their name means they don’t have open posting on their wall. You have to respond to a post on the wall. Please just make sure you’re being appropriate. If it says they have cancer and are being treated, don’t write anything but, “best wishes for a speedy recovery.” Though I see nothing wrong with saying, “from an online poker player.” 
