I spoke with my pro-poker Congressman's Chief of Staff today. I ask him "Have the facebook posts been noticed by the other member of congress" He replied with "The Chairman (Fred Upton) has noticed them" "So keep the presure on"

So the facebook postting campain has been getting noticed. Lets keep it up.

Let's all call Congress and respectfully demand our rights. These should be short, friendly calls. These are not debates, so there is no need to worry about preparation. Rather, the goal of the call is simply to let these lawmakers know that their constituents support the right to play.

For the phone numbers of your elected representatives, either click here or visit the PPA Take Action page and scroll down to item #2.

Here are some tips on what to say to the staffer who answers the phone:
  • I am a constituent, voter and a poker enthusiast.
  • (For Representatives) Please support H.R. 2366, a bipartisan bill to license and regulate Internet poker.
  • (For Senators) H.R. 2366 has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. I would like the Senator to support Senate legislation to license and regulate Internet poker.
  • Regulation means strong consumer protections as well as billions of dollars in federal and state revenue.
  • Please support my freedoms and support this bill.
  • Thank you.
  • I would like a response from the Representative/Senator.
After your call, tell PPA how it went, at http://go.theppa.org/callfeedback. Then, please post ITT to encourage others. Thanks!

Recurring actions:

I wrote an all-new letter to President Obama and Congress that everyone can send in under 60 seconds. Let's all send these three letters now, and let's have our friends, family, and everyone else we know do the same.

Let's also continue to own a lot of Facebook pages (senators, congressmen, Congressional committees, etc.). We need lots of posts on the issue of poker and lots of "liking" of pro-poker comments:
  • The House Committee on Energy and Commerce Facebook page is here.
  • The House Financial Services Committee's Facebook page is here.
  • The Dept. of Justice's Facebook page is here.
Thanks!

Thanks Greg!

Just nailed a bunch of these guys again - got through the For and Unsure list before Facebook threw up the Stop Sign. I'll hit the rest later.

We should leave Paul Ryan alone for now. His page is getting owned by some other group over another issue. Let's let him be and then come back later.

Let's all respectfully tell Congress that we demand our liberty this Independence Day! Let's focus on the Facebook pages of members of the House Judiciary Committee and continue to own these pages.

------------------------

The FOR/AGAINST/UNDECIDED/UNKNOWN after each name is based on support for H.R. 1174. An “x” in front of a name indicates that lawmaker does not allow open posting. We can still comment, but it has to be via a response to an existing wall post.
Republicans
Democrats
