Speaking directly about justin the feds are not going to have a lot of sympathy for a guy that has over 2 million in documented live cashes they think is supplementing his income picking up clients for the russian mob. ------ GOOD POINT....they will already be looking for lost revenue, fines to impose

Like I said if he is guilty and gets offered a few months he should snap take it.
and ABSOLUTELY!! to your last statement

Many of the high stakes poker fish that guys like boosted J, Phil Laak, and scores of other live pros salivate to get into games with are also sports bettors. Ideally they like to play fish in private home games not games at commerce where seven other tough regs are seated and ten more are on the list waiting. It is not a shock that Kenny Tran was kicked out of commerce for recruiting fish to private games. In poker games the strong pros like to talk to the fish, making the environment friendly is part of the skill set of good live high stakes pros. There is no doubt over the course of a few hours nine men gambling at a table are eventually going to discuss sports and sports gambling. I have played thousands of hours live in my life in private games and in casinos and virtually every friendly table eventually ends up discussing sports betting at some point. Guys like Boosted J who play tournament poker in vegas, and on the WPT and are established respected guys in the poker world probably know thirty different guys who could set them up with accounts. Of those thirty ten have probably said to them "if you know any high rollers who bet sports hook them into me and my office and you will get a cut of losses, and you have no risk if they win". It is betting sports not selling meth or running guns across the border. It is legal in two states in america and not legal in 48. The laws are absurd. The guy lives in hollywood hills, has been with the same girl for like ten years and seems like a decent guy. In hollywood hills a real nice area he probably knew a dozen guys or more that bet sports and it seemed like a logical fit. Is it illegal? absolutely. Is it a joke that it is illegal? absolutely.

Now this guy and few others are going to be put under pressure by the DOJ to RAT OUT MAJOR MAJOR RUSSIAN MOBSTERS or face the full weight of the criminal justice system. These are not small time hoods these are MAJOR guys and this really sucks and is really scary.

The same DOJ that let the FTP bosses walk without any real punishment are now going to put guys like boostedj in an IMPOSSIBLE AND TERRIFYING POSITION. RAT OUT REAL TOUGH PEOPLE OR GET LOCKED UP.

I wish him and the other guys in his position the best
+1 Agents for affiliated books are not necessarily shady or violent at all. They are basically gamblers who know other gamblers and have a good name. By definition, OC will always play a major role in 'victimless' crimes like gambling. IMO it is better this way bc OC plays the long term and polices these institutions well and most are dealt with fairly, although maybe not in accordance with the law. I hope these guys stand up bc despite what they may be facing, they will actually do little or no time in a medium-low or even a camp. Ratting is never a +ev action though my opinion may be biased.

There was a thread about .. software developer... SWAT team landed a helicopter in his yard.. they threatened him. He signed a confession or "cooperated fully" after tweeting some online attorney. This guy wrote software for legal bookmakers but the feds wanted his customer list.
Robert Stuart, Extension Software.

Anyway, just keep your mouth shut, lawyer up and do what he says.

this reminds me.. Greg Raymer will be in court tomorrow if the original court date was not changed.

Page 48 of indictment is where Justin is first charged, counts 9-11 he is listed. Thankfully for his sake he is not charged with any of the extortion and strong arm type stuff. But we all speculated from the outset that would be the case. The russian mobsters of the world dont need big time poker players to do their strong arming. They need poker players for access to the big time bettors.

However the three counts they are listed in have a multitude of charges. The entire group of defendants is charged with running the book making operation. The defendants are not classified as agents, runners, bookmakers, clerks, etc etc. They are also charged with wire act and illegal banking charges to facilitate an offshore betting operation.

I agree with virtually everything macau. The only part I disagree with is if the DOJ wants the bosses bad they can put tons of pressure on the little guys with threats of harsh sentences. Not saying they should EVER rat, I just think they will be under a lot of pressure here. This operation has been running for at least five years, lots of money was made and the feds know it. Rich guys getting richer do not get lots of sympathy. Also getting convictions of major russian mob bosses may cause the DOJ to play real hard with the little guys.

Not trying to monopolize the conversation in this thread, I really do not post on 2+2 that often. I just feel horrible that this young gambler and his HS sweetheart are getting their lives flipped over for doing something 90% of us would do.

Not thrilled either that I am getting texts from my friend to go to that illegal poker game I mentioned earlier ITT that is at a sheriffs house and we all know he has no worries about getting pinched.

Yeah, the feds r gonna put them all in on a wet board and they all they got is top pr, no kicker, but ultimately the feds r semibluffing a lot in these situations. If the poker names are at worst agents for the books and not involved w prostitution, identity theft, drugs, or a huge target, which is money laundering, then they should be able to lawyer up and stonewall the feds re anything related to the Brighton Beach crowd. No matter what the feds say (we're gonna arrest your mother, you r gonna do double digits, ur going to a supermax) if they can hold up they will have to take a catnap, lose some funds, but keep their dignity. Agreed, the feds won't make it easy or comfortable, that's what makes them the feds.

pretty easy thinking if your guilty then you know if you rat you know what they can do, if you don't then your innocent . I mean the feds are trying to scare them. but if you want to make a stand I would screw the feds and Russian mob do what is right to you. only you know let no one differ whats right in your heart or mind. lmao they can only kill; you once only thing my dad said made since. lmao Vladimir sux btw

Rich guys get the best lawyers and they have assets that can be seized, often in lieu of harsher sentences. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

He, and Anita, have my best wishes for a positive outcome. At least until all this has been sorted out and he remains innocent until proven guilty.
you cross a line every time you post on here...jesus christ for your sons sake find another forum that he isnt involved in.

Top lawyers for Rico are real real expensive but worth it if in a jam for sure.
As far as your example that does happen often yes but not always. Look at Martha Stewart, Leona Helmsley etc etc. They were hit hard for what they did, very hard. Martha tried to save like 100k with insider trading and lied under oath. many people (including pres Clinton )lie under oath that never get charged never mind go to prison for a first offense in their old age like martha did. Leona had work done on her mansion and billed it to her hotel for a tax break and went to prison as an old woman!! I mean come on! She was a miserable old lady but that's not a crime. The crime she committed sent her to prison cause the govt made an example of her plain and simple
Also Justin may be regular guy rich but he isn't "Howard lederer ray bitar get out of jail free rich". I really hope it works out here but so much depends on the DOJs line of attack.

Well now I realize how Boosted had so much $ to where he could pour a million into Bellande when he was the worst player in the game and not give a shat. Known Arthur Azen and Edler for quite a long time and hope they don't get hit too hard

Well then you can say that abe or Justin didn't do merely what FTP owners have done, it does not sound like.

The max sentence is 10yrs.

A lot of people get convicted of more serious crimes and don't get the max sentence.

probably referring to the massive games at iveys room with bobby baldwin et all, which would be kind of a misleading statement since half the game was friends of bobby baldwin so I highly doubt bellande was a bad investment
