Tom Dwan - the missing man

How convenient is it that he just falls off the face of the earth after issuing and bailing half way through a 50k hand challenge when he goes down over a million dollars?

He come out a year or so ago and said that he has this "big" problem with FTP that he would address once he had a decent nights sleep, what ever happened here?

He agreed to pay penalties on a monthly basis for not playing an agreed amount of hands with jungle, did cates ever receive any of the penalty money? I think it's about time the community got some answers. There was a lot of money placed on the outcome of the match which never got resolved, as you can imagine anyone who took jungle's side must be pretty aggrieved.

Ike and Justin bonomo was both judges along with Ivey being escrow, from what I remember Ivey wanted nothing to do with any of the decision making after dwan went AWOL which lead to phil sending jungle his 500k back. What's the point of having judges in any bet if they can't actually enforce any rulings?

If anyone else had bailed on a bet of this size when he should have escrowed the 1.5million it would be a much bigger deal.

To add to that he's listed to play in the 500k super high roller at the aria

My buddy from Macau says he's in deep to Wan Kuok-koi and his hourglass on showing a profit is running out. He was fooled by American television into thinking he was some kind of unbeatable LAG God of poker.

So you're buddy is saying that dwan is in debt to one of the most violent men in Macau?

Maybe they could base his story for rounders 2.

Who cares, Wan Kuok-koi will never set foot on US soil in his lifetime

if he really is in debt to the triads it will only end badly. but the rise and fall of tom dwan will make a decent B level movie someday.

Debt is very different from make-up. If Dwan structured this supposed arrangement at all intelligently, it's tough titties on the stakehorse if there's no profit.

On the other hand, I'm not saying that I would sleep completely soundly at night if I was in Dwan's spot...

It's like dealing with the mafia. They change the rules as they want

rule #85748 in life: never take a stake/loan from a triad boss. it's just not a very wise thing to do.

I guess Hellmuth was right about whether or not he'd be around in a few years.

I say silent protest.

Nobody mentions Dwan until he shows up again.

That will show him.

um what on earth makes you think I was responding to you?
the poster right before me claimed it was terrible idea to get staked by a triad like its the same thing as getting a loan from a gangster.

I have a hard time believing dean is in physical danger if he gets too deep in makeup.

it isn't? i'll admit i'm not too knowledgeable about the triads so if they have some sort of no violence no crime code of honor let me know. physical danger isn't the only danger either.

What's your position in investing in bridges or swampland?

Re: Tom Dwan - the missing man

Dwan is obv in some pretty major trouble...more so from the fact he just seemed to become obsolete with in a year. I heard all the he is in Asia playing the highest games talk but when ever I mentioned this to players I know that travel reg there nobody saw him in any of the biggest games the last year. And if he was playing so deep in Asia he would have also popped up in some games in Moscow which he has never been in.

Re: Tom Dwan - the missing man

lol classic nvg.

act as if dwan getting staked by the head boss dude is the same as some rando getting a loan from a street level gangster.

carry on, no need to think rationally.

Relyt 06-03-2015 12:17 AM

Re: Tom Dwan - the missing man

i think it's worse. dean is better off going to a street level guy imo.

Re: Tom Dwan - the missing man

want to make a bet on any physical harm coming to him in say the next 3years from the triads?
