well he was playing HS tournaments and a decent pro behind some random (fish) account is unfair. not saying he gained massive advantage but thinking this didn't affect others is a bit ignorant.

besides that, law - even if they are 'stupid' in your eyes - are still laws and if you get caught, you can't argue with your own interpretation of right and wrong

Sure it's ridiculous that people in the US can't play online poker, but Sorel's actions aren't just refusing to abide by an unjust law. He gets to play from home on an anonymous account vs people who have to leave behind friends and family to relocate to a different country and play under their established s/n. He's taking unfair advantage of people who actually follow the rules they agreed to. That's what makes him a cheating scumbag, not the fact that he's breaking the rules.

I didn't think it was possible to vpn Stars. Unless you physically have a machine in another country and operate that remotely.

It's against the TOS? Have you always given accurate information when signing up for a freemail, news, etc. site? I haven't. I have not had criminal intent, but I haven't done it, simply to protect my privacy. Yet I have clearly violated the TOS of these sites. I never thought of it as a big deal. Why would I think it is a big deal for a poker site?

People give Ivey a pass for playing when he was underage. Why is that? Because it is cute? He was taking people's money he didn't have a right to.

I suppose, if I was a winning, high level player, I wouldn't play on sites where doing so violated the tos. But for me personally, if I coiuld figure out a way to play penny poker on Stars I would do it. I enjoy the competition in a bigger variety of games (eg. tired of losing at HE and PLO) and the larger tournaments.

Playing underage didn't give Ivey an advantage over the people whose money he was winning.

NVGers playing busto stakes tend to get way more upset about MAing and VPNing than the people who actually play in these games, especially when the culprit is already someone they don't like such as Hastings or Sorel.

I don't really mind the VPNing but the MAing is not even up for debate.

To all of the winning high stakes poker players out there that are unaware: internet poker is sketchy. Between bots, shady cashouts, collusion, hacking software... This is pretty low on the totem pole.

SO youre supposed to be a pro, in a tournament and you realize, this guy is pretty good. Like a lot of good unknowns, you adjust and play appropriately. Do you really think there are spots where you'd be like: if only i knew it was Sorel and not an anonymous crusher, I would have played so differently. lol. Multi account in tournaments all you want.

disclaimer: small pool cash games are a different story obv. TO be clear though, a US player that is forced to change SN's to play in high stakes cash is not doing anything wrong in my book as long as they stick with the name. If you skip around names on purpose to deceive its pretty scummy (ala Harrington). Anyone who plays highstakes online without the assumption that there are a million shady things going on at once is not very smart.

Everyone back in the day spent time crafting SN's that seemed the fishiest.

And that's if I translate your nonsense literally I still disagree, there's a huge difference between a random reg and a guy like this in how I'd deal with him at the table. Besides, in a small high stakes cash game pool you can often figure out who's who fairly quickly, but not in mtts.
