I really don't understand the hype surrounding Family Guy, it's not even in the same league as South Park/Futurama/Early Simpsons.

The thing for me that puts the earlier Simpsons series above anything else in that genre is the emotional depth of the writing. The one where Homer tells the story of Maggie's birth particularly left me with a lump in my throat at the end (I know, ygos etc), and that's something I've never experienced with any other cartoon, or American comedy full stop for that matter. There are plenty of examples of this in the earlier episodes and I just think it's a very difficult balance to get right and they completely nailed it. Nothing else in that genre is capable of doing that as far as I can see.

I was born in '55, but even as a five year old kid, it was clear to me that the old Fleischer Brothers episodes of Popeye made in the '30's were infinitely better than the cheapo crap colour remakes from the fifties and sixties.

Though I will grant you that today's kids might be completely lacking in taste and discernment.

I know it's just a cartoon, but it kind of stretches the bounds of reality to have Lisa growing her roll 70-fold by learning poker from a Jennifer Tilly video

EDIT: Oh, coolered ... AA<33

That's why it's funny. Welcome to Humor 101.

Greatest line so far: Lisa cries at losing her poorly played all-in, and dealer says: "We can all hear you. Log off."

Edit: new best line: "I was Ivey. Strong Ivey!"

The writers are ignorant , or cowards. They could have easily spun lisa winning into the DOJ freezing funds. I was really excited imagining them taking it there as she started winning, and then realized how naive I was as she shows a very unlisa like lack of bankroll management.

Spoiler:
Overall I think this will be good for poker. They made the joke that your money is safer on a poker site than in a US bank. They showed Lisa who is the most responsible character on the show gambling with no BR management and turning $5k into $400k or so within a very short time frame and with ease. Rather than seeming like luck though she studied books and a Jennifer Tilly DVD and it looked like she was using her smarts to win all the moniez. Then when she lost it all it wasn't the end of the world since a) Bart ended up being the won who won the money and b) despite being caught for being underage, they still got to keep their original deposit and all was well in the end.

I can definitely see this inspiring new people to check out the game as well as old amateur players who had maybe lost their desire to play to pick it up again and give it another shot.

There didn't seem to be much negative at all - the site was portrayed as being money hungry but no more than any casino is usually portrayed as being in pop TV. In fact the fact that they tried to liken the online experience to a brick and mortar only makes things better.

lol. Funny how one letter can totally change the meaning of a sentence.

They made a mistake on the show which is one of my pet peeves. She said she had "aces over threes" when referring to her full house, when she should have said "aces full of threes." The way she said it means two pair.

full house: "Usage: Three kings and two 3s is a full house, often known as kings full, and sometimes more specifically as kings full of 3s."
