None of these companies are actually located in the US I thought. My guess is the only thing that is located in the US is the domain registrar.

This. While UIGEA and Wire Act can be read as not applying to internet poker, these laws created an environment where the sites may have been forced to commit money laundry and bank fraud to continue taking deposits.

While they somehow managed to seize the domains (not sure how since they are on foreign registrars) it shouldn't effect the software clients as they run off IP addresses. I'm still wondering how the DOJ managed to change the DNS records for FTP who is registered to a registrar based in the UK.

The domain registrar, and every single bank that pays out money to US players. That's kind of a big deal.
